We use VPN to login to work.   But 95% of the traffic on my laptop does not go thru he VPN anyway.  So if I am on my work machine connected a VPN watching ESPN that is not going thru the VPN.

Now some companies its the opposite and you can't even get ESPN because the VPN locks down traffic.

Now NORDVPN doesnt work that way either.  It encrypts the traffic between you and NORD server but not that outbound traffic after that.   One thing to remember is that while using a VPN that does not mean your IP is hidden from the receiving side depending on the APP being used.

SO for instance you have an APP running on a roku going thru a VPN to a sketchy site.  All fine.  But if that app has been coded to grab WIFI signals beyond the one your ROKU is connected to then your IP is exposed and perhaps other data as well.   Gambling apps already do that on IPADS and laptops for example which is why VPNS don't help you mask location.
