ESPN projecting SU for the Quick Lane Bowl

I suppose there are worse places to be than Detroit in late December. I can't think of any off the top of my head, but something will come to me.
Syria?

I'm glad to see us receive some national recognition, but it's pure conjecture at this point to project which, if any bowl we might be invited to.

I just like seeing SU in the list of projected bowl teams...

This team is too young to know anything so, if the staff makes them believe in themselves, we could become overachievers and we might win 7 or even 8 games. We might improve more than older teams by the end of the season. We need to get a buzz for the program and it might as well be this year. We have to win the next two games and get on a roll for the Pitt home stand.

Any bowl we play is mission accomplished. If we can get a P5 opponent that is even better. Belk seems like a lock for NC State so I would say either Pinstripe or Detroit Bowl seem like the best fits.

Eric I promise to host a great party at The Detroit Athletic Club if our Orange make the Quick Lane! You will get the first invite...in fact we will bowl at the DAC before we go bowling!!!

I'll still take a bowl game in Texas anytime, please.

Preferably Dallas, since I couldn't get to the last one we had in Texas.

Hell Ya! An hour from the house! Could tailgate in my freakin' back yard!
We will be expecting you to host a couple thousand of us.. i hope your backyard can fit us. Ill bring a tent.

No way we finish that low. We're finishing in the top half and getting a way better bowl.

Peach - FSU (win ACC, miss playoff)
Gator - Clemson
Russell - Miami
Sun - Georgia Tech
Pinstripe - Syracuse
Belk - NC State
Independence - Duke
Military - Pitt/BC/VT/UofL/UNC
Quick Lane - Pitt/BC/VT/UofL/UNC
St. Petersburg - Pitt/BC/VT/UofL/UNC
Could someone post a refresher on the ACC bowl selection process? Specifically:
  • Are they strictly slotted by record or do the selecting bowls have leeway in who they take?
  • Is there a limit in the amount of leeway (1 or 2 victory, etc.)?
  • Does conference record matter at all or is it based on overall?
  • The presumption that the ACC champ won't make the playoffs adds a team to the conference tie-in list and makes it likely there will be more bowl eligible teams than bowls. What kind of maneuvering is possible to get a "better" non-affiliated bowl than those at the bottom of the list?
  • Shouldn't Notre Dame also be in the mix for one of those slots? http://espn.go.com/blog/acc/post/_/id/82568/game-times-for-acc-bowl-tie-ins
