Evolution Of The Guitar Solo

I would call the first video riffs not solos at least for most of them.

I was in a long discussion last night of who the bast bassist in the world was. One guy asserted Flea, I asserted Les Claypool, then we saw this from Victor Wooten


We decided they are all amazing in their own right, but Victor won.

I am as big a Victor Wooten fan as anyone . . . but the greatest bassist of all time is Charles Mingus, who is also one of the five or ten finest American composers of all time
 
Two weeks ago at the Toronto Film Festival, I got to see the world premiere of a movie about Jimi Hendrix during the period right before he broke big. Pretty good flick. Stars Andre 3000 from OutKast as Hendrix. He does a real nice job.
