I’m excited to see the women play this year. Second year in Coach Jacks system. Retained a lot of the players and only got two from the portal. One that is familiar with the system. Added height with two centers 6’4 and 6’5. Two forwards 6’2 and 6’3. Fair back with more experience after playing internationally 3 on 3 games. Again super excited what this team can do this year.

Agree 100 %!!!! Coach Jack preaches defense and we were the worse defensive team in the ACC last year, primarily due to the fact that we lacked height. We can now present a front court of 6-2, 6-3 and 6-4, with a 6-5 post as a sub. The increased size and front court depth should help our defense. Scoring and perimeter defense should be good again with the guard talent and depth that we have. Let's Go Orange!

Happy to see our Coach is back. I've anxious for the season start. ACC preseason has us ranked one position higher than last but believe we can do more. Our backcourt of Fair/Woolley are one of the best in league, we have more depth in front court. Tuesday can't come soon enough!

I consider myself a "basketball junkie" and my addiction began tonight with the Lady Vols. Last year was exciting year to watch not just for SU but all of women's basketball. Things I am looking forward to this year:

1 - SU in March Madness
2 - Caitlin Clark - all eyes on her, think she handles that pressure fine just think teams get more physical with her.
3 - LSU - super talented team, could they go undefeated or will egos and media attention get in the way. (like the players but can't stand Mulkey) She should get a "T" every game for being out of the box and on the court.
4 - Cardoso/SC - expect to see her average dbls this season 14 pts/10 reb. SC still strong team with some good early games to watch.
5 - Paige Bueckers - does she stay healthy? if not is basketball over, if yes does UCONN make Final 4?
6 - Hyman/URI - hoping she rebounds and has a great season, she just never looked comfortable last season and it played in head
7 PAC12 - even though it's coming to an end, preseason predictions suggest 9 teams are in tournament. Not very familiar w/teams but know USC/UCLA have recruited well. Stanford always solid squad but when I watch Brink, I think volleyball player and can't get that image out of my head.
8 - Priscilla Williams/Oregon - will this be her year to finally get her back to playing? she is currently unable to play while she awaits word from the NCAA on her hardship waiver.

Priscilla has travelled 3 of 4 corners geographically in the US - Syracuse, South Florida now Oregon? Next Arizona or California? She sadly has travelled much more than she’s ever played so far. Rather sad progression of her career for her 5 star status but still has 2 years to make an impact (or is it 3 years because of Covid?).

The ACC is going to get a lesson beginning this year in why the Australian players are good when they get here. They learn to play the complete game at an early age or they don't play.

That didn't take long LSU loses 1st game.

Ready to see Cardoso/SC against ND today.

Update Cardoso 20pts/14rebs. SC wins by 29, score 100pts.
Another huge win for So Carolina over Maryland, just like ND game even battle until mid 2nd qtr and just pull away.
SU will need to defend 3pt shot from Md though.

Moving on to watch Iowa/NIowa,

Just think...Cardoso started off at Syracuse!

Watched Alabama v UCF, 2 good teams thought it would be close. Bama 29pt win. Harder test than I thought, play 4 guards/1 forward. Barker strong driver to basket, team moves well.

Alabama beat LVille today by 5. They will be tough matchup especially with Fair starting the season slow.

Former SU player, Maud Huijbens scored 15pts in 16mins of play to help Gonzaga take down Stanford today.

I hadn’t realized that 2021-2022 ACC freshman of the year Day-Wilson who decomitted from SU to play for Duke for 2 years, had transferred this year to Miami. She joins Latisha Lattimore who was also SU bound but also decomitted from SU to head to Texas for 2 years and who now is also at Miami. Weird world with players transferring all over so many times. Guess Miami had lots of extra cash after the Cavinder twins left. Had heard that Kara Lawson, Duke’s coach, and Day-Lewis had a strained relationship while at Duke. Both players were from Canada.

Watch Gonzaga v N Mexico yesterday, Nyah Wilson starts for Lobos and Maud Huibjens plays about 15-20 off bench for the Zags. I forgot how tall Maud was, she backs up the center position. Wilson didn't have best day scoring only 7 but averaging 12 for the season. Glad she is getting a chance to play, she never real got a chance here with all the coaching changes.

Anyone watch the USC/UCLA game? I think you will see one of them in the finals. Betts didn't have her best game but second time I've watched them and while she & Cardoso are both 6'7", Betts looks taller. She didn't play much last year so she's like a freshman, she will continue to improve, glad she's no longer at Stanford.
