excuse my crazy talk but would cleveland be better off with Waiters than Irving?

Sorry I looked up Brandon Jennings not Brandon Knight. Knight in NOT available he just signed a 70million dollar contract last summer.

Got it. Your comments certainly make sense for Jennings. I was wondering if you were talking about someone else other than Knight.

Per espn the warriors are shooting 78% when Kyrie Irving is the primary defender.

It's kind of hilarious because the team that offered "no help" is the very same team that he literally put together himself.

I think this matters:

Mikan had John Kundla as his coach.
Russell had Red Auerbach
Magic and Kareem had Pat Riley
Both Michael and Kobe had Phil Jackson.
Tim Duncan had Greg Popovich.

LeBron James' coaches have been : Paul Silas, Brendan Malone, Mike Brown, Erik Spoelstra, David Blatt, and Tyronn Lue. Silas wa sa good coach. Spoelstra did well enough to get two titles and Lue may turnout to be pretty good. But LeBron has never played for a great coach, largely because he's really been the coach. And the GM. And he's not as good at it as Kundla, Auerbach, Riley, Jackson or Popovich.

So after last night's game the TV pundits have Irving ready for Springfield and the Warriors on the ropes because they are soft and Cleveland has found the mojo. The need to fill air time cracks me up.

My hope is both teams bring effort and their shot for Game 4. These games have been awful.

this thread guaranteed a great cleveland perfomance ha

i would love to see a close game someday in these playoffs.

GSW 27% from 3
CLE 48%

haha

No there has been more stupid threads. This one's up there. I love Dion and wish him the best but he is not on Kyries level right now and it really isn't that close.

I'm not saying he could never be at his level. We don't know what the future holds, hell Kyrie could suffer a career ending injury in game 6 for all we know.

his outside shooting dipped bad in the regular season and he was 1-7 from 3 the first two games.

since then he's 10 for 20 from 3 haha

Kyrie is a great scorer always has been always will be, but if you think he and Lebron go for 41 last night if Green played than you don't understand or believe in defense in the NBA. Even JR Smith was getting to the rim last night.

Agreed. I said that even in Game 1 or 2. Probably the dumbest Orange-colored goggled idea in the history of this board. Waiters can only dream of having Irving's skillset.

Irving still could've had 40 yesterday but I doubt LBJ gets to 40 with Green in there.

When LBJ's jump shot is falling as it was last night, it wouldn't have mattered if Green was in there or not, imo. I don't think there is one guy who can stop Lebron when he's hitting the J, as it makes him considerably more difficult to defend than he already is. His J hasn't been falling at all during the playoffs, certainly not with any consistency. If he can continue to hit that shot, this series will get even more interesting.

Additionally, he needs to stay in attack mode. Game 4 Friday night was about as passive as I've ever seen Lebron play, and, rightfully so, he was highly criticized for it. James was an enigma Friday night, most notably when Curry & Livingston were on him many times and he chose to drive and then pass it out (after leaving his feet and to nobody who was really that open either) vs. finishing strong to the hoop.

GSW's "line up of death" has Green at the 5. This allows GSW to switch all pick and roles 1-5. Bogut always sags and gives the jump shot on a pick and role if a player starts hitting shots Bogut goes to the bench and GSW either plays up on the shooter with Green at the rim or Green switches on the shooter in case of a pick and role plays man up. Without Green they gave Lebron shots all night, and when Kyrie gets it going he makes tough shots but with no rim protection there is nothing any one defender can do because he is too fast.

The Cavs do not have the answer for this line-up because Love and Frye at the 5 can not make them pay on the offensive end. Thompson can beat them on the boards but not by enough. It is why analyst say "Seth is the MVP of the League, but Green is the MVP of the team"

Dion > Irving > Curry

He was hitting the jumper, no doubt. That said, it was the gameplan to not even guard his jumpshot. It would have been much different with Green, IMO. If he was on LeBron, he would still guard against the jumpshot. Even if he's not on him, they can guard against it with him in the game because of his help D. They're never gonna guard him super tight on the perimeter, but he basically was taking warm-up jumpers.

It's all about match-ups for sure. Green played in game three, no? In my opinion, if LBJ is hitting his J, Green (nobody for that matter) can guard James one on one. Lebron's biggest obstacle most of the time is himself by being passive, over dribbling and settling. If he stays aggressive, he'll go off for 40 just like the other night and how he did last year in the finals.

Love is useless is this series and the Cav's should just stick with Jefferson.

True but it seems when Green is in there (or Bogut) that James and others have struggled finishing inside a bit. Green challenges at the rim pretty well. For sure James probably holds himself back with being passive at times and settling for jumpers but Green is absolutely a deterrent.
