Experimental NIT Rules...

Don't have a problem with them experimenting new rules but I do have an issue with them doing it in a post-season tournament. Save this stuff for exhibition.

Let's be real, the NIT is basically a bunch of exhibition games. Less than half the teams in the NIT take it seriously.

Wonder if it'd provide any incentive to take the NIT more seriously if schools were allowed to play redshirts without burning eligibility.

I like the rules, except as you say, why not just go to 4 quarters.

It makes no sense to me. Then I thought the established TV contract probably includes a structure based on the networks ability to sell the advertising based on the under 16, under 12, under 8, under 4 minute stoppages and it may be worded in such a way to make it problematic to change that format without violating the contract.
