Not going for two was odd. The onside kick was a gamble and he lost, but it didn't lose us the game. Even if LSU hadn't scored on the end around because they were on their own 30, they would have had a first down, and would have been able to run out the clock.Terrible decisions late. The offense was super slow on the last drive, granted they scored. Then they inexplicable onside kick and then fail to stop a run on 3rd and 2 that was a run the whole way.
This is the guy!
I agree. No decisions lost the game but they didn't put us in good positions. Who knows what the game looks like if we don't spot them 14. Those plays weren't dinos fault. Not going for two was odd. To be honest, I'm less confident in him now, than at any point prior. We really gave away this game tonight.
Because you don't take your team out of the game/the come back. It such an obvious no no in that circumstance. Someone saying it wasn't supposed to be called and he was upset. I honestly hope so as it would show he's not shafferesque, because otherwise it shakes my confidence in his intelligenceWhaaaaaaa?

Thought the OSK call was brilliant - minus the execution. We're talking about 19 yds here. LSU recovered at their 44 vs an avg of 25 with a normal KO. But the OSK gave us a chance to surprise them, get the ball back near midfield with a good shot at a FG at least. The story of this game. Most of the trick plays worked (except the OSK) but the routine ones - didn't (see Riley, Sean). Proud of the team and staff regardless. Making huge strides.
Wait. Are people really basing their decision on whether they want Dino to be the leader of this program based on 1 in-game call? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. The last thing I am basing that decision on is because of 1 or 2 questionable in-game decisions. Building a program is so much bigger that making a game day call. No HC, be it Bill Belichak or Nick Saban is a perfect game day HC. There is so much more that's goes into the years and years it takes to implement a winning culture to a program that has been in disarray for the past 20 years. I am the last person who is going to give credit for a moral victory. I never have believed in them, and I don't now. But I also know enough to realize that we went on the road to one of the most talent teams, year in and year out, in the country. We basically dominated the 1st half minus our star QB coming out not composed and basically throwing a pick 6, as well as our experienced return man dropping the easiest TD pass he will ever see. Still, the point is, 5 years from now this game will be a blip on the radar, or if anything, a positive recruiting tool to show recruits. Dino proved last year he can coach a less talented team up to win easily (VT), and tonight he again showed he can go to one of the toughest venues in the country as a 23 point under dog and basically play more than well enough to win. It's painfully obvious that the 2 classes he has brought in are light years ahead of his predecessor in size, athleticism, and talent. There is a clear plan for where he sees this program going and he is recruiting to those needs. He is still either using upper classmen, who don't exactly fit his scheme, or underclassmen to compete with the best programs in the country. If people don't see this as positive steps then I don't know what to say. But the very last reason I would hold my reserve is because of a questionable onside kick. That's downright ridiculous
I wish I worked for you. I'd have a 537 year contract by now.

Lol. He already filled his quota of OOB KO's. But I also think the calculation was to hold 'em to a FG as a worst case scenario of a failed OSK. Then we'd still be down only 5 with a shot for a TD.with murphys kickoffs they may have started at the 35 even if we kick deep
It all came down to one play. The very first one.I thought outside of a few questionable calls - very well called game by the staff and excellent strategy for the most part. Agree on the onsides - I'm of the type when it's that close you have to kick it deep but it's a risk/reward call and I get that.
This one IMO is on the players. Riley dropped a surefire TD and did really nothing in the return game. Bennett, great to the point of the drop but dropped a pick 6 and then Dungey gave away basically a pick 6 to start the game. You can't make repetitive mistakes like that that take TD's off the board against a top 25 team on the road.
I really hate to pile on the players after such a tough fight, a ton of heart out there, but you can't make mistakes like that that cost us 21 pts and expect to win.
