Stats are cute & all, but I have started watching highlights from the games where our HC candidates are coaching. Thought we could have a thread devoid of statistical wizardry & hatred towards JBs coaching tree. Just observations.

Schertz
* vs Memphis
* got blown out by 30. It wasn't pretty.
* was my favorite going in based on his wl record. Need to revaluate.
* had some skilled dudes, but they absolutely could not keep up with Memphis & were gassed about halfway in.

Hodgson
* vs I forget
* good assemblage of athletes. Like a bunch of Qadirs, but with good attitudes
* They played with controlled recklessness, kinda like a Nolan Richardson team but w less talent.
* not my favorite style, but understand why some would find it exciting. Need to watch more.

GMac
* maac championship vs Merrimack
* his team was lights out on O early & lock down on D for 75% of the game.
* the chemistry & fire with which they played is reminiscent of how our favorite Irishman used to play.
* the big man played inside, amazing to find one who still does that! Had a good set of post moves. Love it.
* Darty was outstanding.
* the biggest weakness I saw was the pass into the top of the key. It was like a telegraphed rainbow pass you'd see at the Y in a 5th grade game. Crazy.

Syracuse needs a coach who will change the perception of the last 10+- years. We have gone from a joke of a perennial NCAA Tournament bubble team to a place where 4/5 star recruits with strong NBA draft potential go to die. Needs to end

Does the gameplay of the teams of the coaches you want to lead SU give you confidence they will do that?

Hodgson - uSF vs Wichita. Lots of 3 chucking. 18. Made 5. Lots of turnovers, +5. Very few assists, -5. Really no interior play. Up and down 3-4 passes & a shot.

Why use a full season, or multiple seasons' worth, of datapoints when you can just use one game per candidate as a meaningful sample size for the HC decision. You should forward your insights to Bryan Blair, I'm sure he will appreciate them.

This is an online message board about teenagers bouncing and shooting a ball. It’s not that serious.

Oooh, sick burn.

I should just stop posting & follow the wiser ones amongst us. Forgive me for my boldness.

So you love Gerry. Got it. He isn’t the best for the job.

Did you mean SLU vs Mason?

If you ran the eye test on Georgetown tonight, you would think Ed Cooley is a genius and that he's had their program humming for the past three years. Maybe we should add his name to our HC search?
