The big difference in F1 and Nascar is that sticking it out can be very detrimental to your career. In Nascar a good driver is going to win races at some point in the season and figure out a way to get to the playoffs. In F1 if you are on a bad team, you are dead and a year or more of your career is just gone without even having a chance to be competitive. I love Austin as a city and the track. I did hear that it was completely different last year and that the crowd changed dramatically and I saw that ticket prices have certainly raised in price significantly. The Miami race is extremely gross, it looks like they are making for the influencer crowd and ticket prices are damn near super bowl level. I hate it. A LOT. The cool thing at Austin is there are huge concerts on Fri and Sat night. Think last year they had 21 pilots one night and Billy Joel the other. Think one year was Britney Spears and Bruno Mars, another was Justin Timberlake and Stevie Wonder. Not that I particularly like any of those acts besides maybe Timberlake and Joel, they are still pretty significant names. Wife will usually pop in and out during races on TV. Won't usually sit and watch from start to finish but will ask questions and usually the end.
