So he's got that going for him...which is kind of nice. CS

Fab has become exhibit "A" for why you should attend classes, get extra help andstay in college long enough where your skills can develop.

Is he really? He's the 2nd worst player in the league and has a couple million guaranteed in the bank. I'd say that's maximizing your potential pretty nicely. If he was interested in skill development, he'd be doing that now. What's to say another year wouldn't have exposed more negatives (or legal nonsense) and kept him out of the first round?

Fab Melo vs. Royce White, 1 0n 1, in the steel cage for all the marbles.

I remember after the Celtics drafted Melo, someone on talk radio asked if they could trade Melo for White, should they do the deal. I couldn't decide if they should, but decided it was a good question. I guess this validates it.

royce white is in a whole different ballpark. really really good player.. but his anxiety disorder is handcuffing his chance to be a good NBA player. I also saw an interview with him last year where he talked about all these ongoing issues in the world. I got the gist that the NBA isnt the most important thing going on in his life

And they know that from 3 minutes of actual playing time in the NBA?

While that has to be difficult to take if you're Fab...I wouldn't mind being the 2nd worst employee at a decent business making over a million dollars a year. Hell, I'd sign up for it right now if I could.

And AO is ranked ahead of him! Not sure how AO made the list but I'll be rooting hard for him to succeed in the NBA. Fab - meh.

The writer is from boston easy target.
Fab, I root for him but he was always goofy.

It's weird how so many folks (not you per se) look at this as a massive negative when, in fact, the kid should be applauded for actually caring about other stuff. I'm not saying it's great for his career and, in reality, it's probably better to focus on all that in your spare time or in the off-season, but I swear part of the reason so many of these guys have problems off the court is that all they actually really care about is what's happening on the court.

I have no moral argument that players should stay in college for any longer than they want to but I agree that Fab is one of those guys who was just really puzzling. Do the minimal academic work and he would have had a ton of minutes as a junior to try and polish/expand his offensive game. Can't help but think, even if he had gone lower in the draft, that he would have at least entered the NBA as a better player. There has to be something said for that.

Of course, he also seemed like a guy who wasn't overly serious about doing what it took to be successful at basketball (for better or for worse), so perhaps it's a moot point.
