DURHAM , N.C. – In a rematch of last year’s semifinal matchup, No. 6-seeded Syracuse defeated No. 2-seeded North Carolina, 3-2, in overtime of the ACC Field Hockey Championship semifinals on Friday.
The Orange were powered by junior Emma Russell, who scored two of the three Syracuse goals, totaling six for the tournament – setting a new ACC Championship record for goals.
The win advances Syracuse to its first finals appearance, where it will take on fourth-seeded Wake Forest on Sunday.
