SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University field hockey team was ranked No. 7 nationally in the most recent Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, the NFHCA announced on Tuesday. This marks the highest Syracuse has been ranked in 2014 since the third release of the coaches' poll on Sept. 16, when it was No. 4 in the country.

Syracuse is coming off a dominating weekend, when it defeated then-No. 6 Duke and Bucknell in its final two regular season home games. The Orange has not allowed a goal in more 140 minutes of play and has not yielded a penalty corner in its past two contests.

The squad also saw a rise in the latest NCAA RPI Rankings. Syracuse was ranked No. 6 in the latest rankings, its highest position this year in the poll. Amongst ACC programs, Syracuse only trailed top-ranked North Carolina in the RPI Rankings.

Syracuse will complete its regular season on Saturday afternoon on the road at Massachusetts. Its regular season finale is slated to begin at 1 p.m. in Amherst, Mass.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse field hockey team will complete its 2014 regular season on Saturday afternoon at Massachusetts. The team's regular season finale is set to begin at 1 p.m. in Amherst, Mass.

For the ninth straight season, Syracuse has won at least 12 regular season contests. The Orange has won at least 12 games in the regular season every year under head coach Ange Bradley.

Bradley's Bite
"We just have to keep getting better at the end. It's all who wins last. Hopefully, we can come out strong against UMass and finish up the month solid."

Russell Shares Accolades
Junior forward Emma Russell of the Syracuse University field hockey team was named the ACC Co-Player of the Week, the conference announced on Oct. 28. Russell shared their honor with Boston College sophomore Emily McCoy. It marked the first time in Russell's collegiate career that she had earned conference player of the week accolades.

Russell helped the team to a perfect weekend, as Syracuse defeated then-No. 6 Duke and Bucknell. She tallied the game-winning goal in overtime against Duke, her third overtime goal this season. Russell followed that performance up with the final goal of the day against Bucknell, her team-leading 12th tally of the year.

ACC Championship Awaits
Following its 2-1 overtime victory against then-No. 6 Duke on Oct. 25, the Syracuse field hockey team wrapped up the sixth seed for the 2014 ACC Field Hockey Championship. The ACC Championship will begin Thursday, Nov. 6 at Duke's Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium in Durham, N.C.

Syracuse will take on third-seeded Boston College in its first round matchup on Thursday, Nov. 6. The final first round game of the 2014 ACC Championship is slated to begin at 4 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN3.

Series Breakdown
Syracuse and Massachusetts will meet for the 25th time on Saturday. The two schools have met every year since 1994 with Syracuse owning a 17-6-1 advantage in the all-time series. The Orange has won its past two meetings with the Minutewomen.

Last season, Lauren Brooks and Leonie Geyer each scored goals to lift Syracuse to a 2-1 win against No. 7 Massachusetts. Alyssa Manley, Jordan Page, and Emma Russell all contributed assists in the Orange's victory.
