I must have missed this earlier…it looks like this is a ranking based purely on yards gained. If that’s the case, it really isn’t much of a ranking as to who the best QBs are.

FWIW, PFF grades McCord as the 4th best QB in the country. He’s also…

1st in attempts
2nd in completions
7th in % comp
3rd in yards
2nd in TDs
1st in Big Time Throws
2nd in 1st downs
6th in NFL passer rating

Not too shabby. I’ll take it.

I always lead the country in first downs on NCAA 25, so this tracks.

Big Time Throws is a stat?

That he’s done this in the first six months of a new offense install, with an oline that can be called adequate at best at the moment, with a receiving group with very limited game snaps last year for the most part Is very impressive.

It’s pretty obvious to me that he’s playing with a big chip on his shoulder. Gotta love that.

Note: Regarding the latest national QB ratings - (all the QB's ahead of him have played in six games, not five like McCord). He's doing very well considering that fact. It will all iron out in the wash with other teams having upcoming bye weeks.

Yes indeed. I made that same point in one of my earlier posts.
