If we start 3-0, LSU would be the most anticipated SU home football game since... <blank>

Syracuse vs. WV 2011. At the time Cuse was 4-2 with WV coming to the Carrier Dome. We throttled them in epic fashion. Nick Provo's still has fibers of his being in the turf rolled up this weekend from that game.

The 49-23 thrashing would serve as the high point of the season, though. As the mighty Orange subsequently lost out in what was most likely, one of, if not the, most disappointing second half to a season in program history.

Clemson, 2013.

It'd be great if we're 3-0, and we damn well should be 3-0, but everyone would know it'd be a thin resume.

We drew 49K for that Clemson game, and I'd expect a similar showing for LSU if we're 3-0.

Since those epic UM - SU battles when McNabb was here.

A similar showing in the seats yes. On the field, I hope we don't play Cover 0 on the white guy like that Clemson game. That escalated quickly.

west virginia 2005.

Syracuse had just won the BigEast and went to a bowl game...yet inexplicably fired the coach.

that said, the savior was in town. Cuse was going to be USC-East baby!!!

we had our pete carroll, but this guy came with 2 SuperBowl rings and a NC as a DC at Texas...he was going to be better.

to open the title run we had our old friend wv in the Dome on ABC on labor day saturday (what? not on friday on e3??)

posters were asking if damien rhodes could win the heisman and perry was mcnabb2005 and he was going to lead us to the promised land with grandma posting 50x a day to tell us how!!

yeee-haa!!! the beer is free, the woman are easy and Cuse football is a force again!!

lost the game, but it was close.

pounded buffalo to even the record and then got a ranked virginia in the Dome.

i suppose that game could be your answer, but that opener was da-bomb...

in more ways than 1...:bang:

Agreed. Hunt had supplanted Allen, and led the offense on tons of scoring drives in the two games he was at the helm. He was leading the nation in efficiency, and there was a buzz after the poor showings against PSU / NW.

There was a tangible buzz for that Clemson game--no question.

The 2005 WVU game was on Sunday. We opened the 04 and 05 seasons on Sunday in the ABC window.

I would say I biggest game since Miami McNabb's Senior night,. We haven't been a national player since then outside of Freeney's Senior year.

I was there, but didn't remember that it was on a Sunday, so I went back to the ESPN game recap. We held them to 1/14 on 3rd down, and forced 5 turnovers. And lost!

That WVU team went on go to 12-1 and win the Sugar Bowl, but they definitely sucked that day. Unfortunately we sucked worse.

It should be Wake Forest '15, at least among the diehards. This will be a chance to beat our first FBS opponent in the Dome since 2013. The Dome was cursed in 2014. We need to break that curse and RI doesn't count. I will be as jacked for Wake as I am LSU, probably more. That's how bad last year was.

Our defense turned WVU ball A LOT and got the offense great field position to start that game. WVU didn't start Pat White or Steve Slaton in that game though. The nephew of Chuck Bednarak was WVU's starting QB and made a ton of mistakes. We were up 7-0 in a horrible game till mid-way 2nd Q Perry Patterson threw a pick-6 to tie the game and then had a safety when we were down 10-7 to end the game.

I remember getting up super excited for that game and rode back to South after the game depressed because it was obvious our offense sucked.

I was thinking the Virginia Tech game when Freeney buried Vick in the turf 4.5 times. Obviously we lost...but I don't recall ever being around that kind of hype/buzz/excitement in my time at SU, and obviously I can't really judge since then.
