Get back to back to back seasons, and we will start showing up in top 15 preseason polls, then Fran can go from there.
Get that Tennessee win to start the year, find a way to win 7 more in the regular season.
Don't have any bad loses, win your bowl game.
Then after going 9-4 against that schedule, bring in a good class, and you can get a preseason top 15.
Look we were preseason ranked in 2019 and we all saw how that turned out. So while it would be nice to start in the polls since it’s easier to move up with success if you start there, this should hopefully help Fran motivating the guys too prove to the College Football world that this past season success wasn’t just because of McCord and our seniors, but the program as an entity improving.
I agree but I don't think we will be. I think the writers and coaches will look at our key departures and chalk last season up to lightning in a bottle.
Absolute joke. And I hate that OSU won last night because now the chatter is how much better Howard is and clearly McCord was holding them back from winning it all blah blah. So annoying
Nah - any objective viewer could see Howard was just a game manager. He didn't have to do much aside from handing off, throwing screens and some play action to receivers who were wide open.

I have no big complaints. Maybe should have been ahead of Miami in the ap. At the same time, I was a little surprised that we were ranked ahead of Missouri. More disappointed with the coaches poll. Placed behind Miami and Army. Army played a very weak schedule losing to the only two decent teams on their schedule. I would have ranked Navy ahead of Army.
Yep and Howard had thrown 800 passes in his career before coming to OSU, Kyle had thrown 58 before he became their starter in 2023. Kyle played better against a champion Michigan, on the road, than Howard played, at home, against a mediocre Michigan. The 4 team vs 12 team is why Howard even had a chance to win a title and Kyle didn’t. But don’t tell OSU Kyle haters any of that
Other than being fans, I don't know why people are complaining. All seems to make sense to me looking at records and SOS (Syracuse at 59) and I don't see any bias. Nobody who had a worse SOS than us was ranked ahead of us with the same amount of losses. BYU had a worse SOS than us at 66 but only had 2 losses. And its not like we were blowing anybody out.
We beat Miami head to head but that is just 1 game. They had the same record as us but they had a harder schedule than us and their QB didn't play the second half of the bowl and that was one of their L's. South Carolina had the same number of losses as us before the playoff and ended up with one more L but they ended up with the 12th ranked SOS. Illinois had the same record as us but had a SOS of 43.
If we beat stanford and lose to a good team, we're ranked higher. Every time we eeked our way in, we stubbed our toe and caused pollsters ro lose confidence in us until we beat Miami. Every team in the bottom 10 or so of the polls can argue they're better than some teams that are ranked higher and then there are arguments to the contrary.
what a bunch of BS. I didn’t think they would get much credit for beating Washington St but Syracuse was under rated the entire season. Should have been about 15th

I couldn't care less about Georgia and Texas, but Texas being #4 and Georgia being #6 when they have the same number of losses, Georgia won the SEC, and Georgia beat Texas twice is very strange.
SOS alone does little to show you who is better but when coupled with the teams record and scoring differential it means quite a bit. Are you saying two teams are ranked between 10-15 so are pretty equal and then just giving us a comparison of the out of conference SOS's only? What about the in conference game schedules as they obviously make a difference.
Enjoy the Miami win and finally having an offense for the Dome. It was Dinos D and BC Stan and Pitt aren't good losses it means your middle pack of a bad conference. Great season but the ACC deserves no love.
It did work out for both schools. The system at SU was much better suited for McCord and Howard was the combo runner/passer OSU needed to put them over the top. Not sure where that "chatter" is coming from as most of the OSU fans I know haven't even mentioned Kyle since he transferred. It was always a square peg in a round hole situation where the swap helped both QBs.

The question is not, is OSU better with Howard. The question is, would Howard have been able to put SU on his back the way McCord did. I have great faith in Nixon’s ability to gameplan to an individual’s unique abilities. But I still thing McCord made SU better more than Howard would have.
