Final CFP Rankings for Dec 7

Strength on schedule is 44th vs 42nd, strength of record is 14th vs 13th, same record, Miami has the head to head win. We’re going to penalize Miami because 5-1 Ville wasn’t ranked at the time they beat Miami?
Ville finished the year far outside of the Final 25. They were a dumpster fire the last third of the season. SMU lost to Cal in a must-win, that's an ugly loss. Somehow these losses didn't matter.

Louisville was ranked 20 then lost to Clemson by 1 before the SMU game, SMU was ranked during the Cal game. I don’t think either is an awful loss, they’re solid teams. It’s not like they lost to BC. I think the head to head win over ND should be a bigger factor.

Glad Miami got in over ND. Time to put pressure on ND to get into the ACC along with their other programs! Had the been in the ACC they are probably in.
Miami, Clemson, FSU (with a good coach), Penn State, Notre Dame (and Syracuse!) is a pretty great upper echelon for a football conference. Maybe add in an unhappy Michigan and USC and we’re instantly better than the Big 10. Then Ohio State abandons the sinking ship of the B1G. East coast eyeballs are the most coveted, and the ACC has all the biggest markets. Done and dusted. Plus you kill the Carolina mafia once and for all. Lol. One can dream!

Miami is the only team that made the CFP that had two losses to teams that finished outside of the top 25. They're not good losses for damn sure but somehow no one ever mentions these losses.

Personally, I'd like to see the CFP assign much of the task to five large sportsbooks. They could come up with aggregate power ratings to rank all of the at-large teams. This assumes the ACC comes up with a normal tie-breaking procedure lol. Far less corruption and they wouldn't be influenced by campaigns from networks, coaches, podcasters etc.

FanDuel had lookahead lines this morning. ND was favored by 5.5 on the road at Oklahoma. Obviously that line would be greater than a TD on a neutral. OU an 8 seed and ND out. That should never happen. BTW Alabama only favored by 1.5 against OU.

If this result forces ND to look at joining a conference then I don’t think this years CFP picture encourages them to join the ACC as a full member

Notre Dame’s the most entitled soft program in the nation. They could be playing the guards from Longest Yard and I’d root against them.

Clearly it's messed up the entire ACC lineup.

As usual, we're late announcing matchups.

Messed up the lineup sure but it isn't going to set ESPN back a major amount of money or anything. Would they like it better if they played sure but do they really care? No.

It may hurt the people of Pop Tarts because they will probably sell less tickets to the game but it wouldn't cost ESPN a major amount of money and they wont lose sleep over it.

Advertisement revenue wouldnt be hurt by not having ND?

For example...the 2024 championship charged 1 mill for 60 seconds (Michigan vs Washington).

2025 had ESPN charge 2 mill for 30 sec...I wonder what the difference was that allowed ESPN to charge so much.

Usually those change based on previous years veiwership and projected viewership way before teams are announced or if major things change like COVID during the year and more people are watching TV or spending time online.

ND AD Pete Bevacqua, who is the former chairman of NBC Sports, gives a big middle finger to the world wide leader.
Can u blame them? I've never seen a more orchestrated campaign in TV sports than what ESPN did with ND. Such an amazing coincidence that every talking head (and there are a couple dozen) at the network talked up the Canes over ND and also felt Bama should be in. There were essentially no dissenters. Gee I wonder why?

Yup...also took a bit deeper of a dive and 2025 was the change from 4 teams to the expanded playoffs. Makes 100% sense.

If Notre Dame had beat Miami and they both ended up 10-2 there would be nobody saying the Canes got hosed if they put Notre Dame in the playoffs.I don’t see why the controversy because the roles are swapped.

Sorry if this article has already been posted. It's very good.

Is the committee sending a message to ND to join a conference? Or is it a reflection of years of frustration with ND's outsize influence on college football? Or both?
