I've disliked and rooted against Duke my entire life, but I'm pulling as hard for them as any team outside of Syracuse in a Final Four that I can remember. Reasons:
  • Cooper Flagg's the real deal and a lot of fun to watch. I also think Scheyer's a great coach despite him being a quintessential Duke villain as a player. I also like Maliq and respect his decision. I would've done the same.
  • I don't want to see the SEC rewarded for buying the sport.
  • Bruce Pearl and Todd Golden are sleazebags. If you don't know what I'm talking about, do some quick research. Re Golden, where there's smoke, there's always at least a little fire.
  • Houston's style of play is an affront to the game of basketball. Clutch, grab, and in general muck up the game as much as possible knowing that refs can't call a foul every possession. It's basically cheating.
Curious who others are rooting for.

Seems to be a way of coaching in Texas , on the women's side of the final four Texas coach has run the style defense for a long time.

Florida for my bracket contests also, but I can't argue about what you say about Golden.

Not a fan of any of the 4 teams, but I am an alum of Florida and have them in my brackets...so by default I will go with them.

I (gulp) like Duke. It's been cool seeing a bunch of 18-19 year-olds bully all these teams stacked with 22-24 year-olds. It's easy to do when you have three lottery picks including perhaps #1 overall, but that doesn't make it any less true. I also like that they've surrounded the studs with role players who are only asked to do a few specific things but they do them very well.

Houston. Kelvin Sampson has had some bad luck over the years. Most notably if Shead didn’t get hurt in the sweet 16 last year they were the team most likely to give UConn a game.

And I don’t mind their style of play. They play suffocating defense and if the refs aren’t going to call hand checks, bumps, etc it’s the refs fault, not the Cougars.

Will never root for Duke. While they are a more likable team this year than they usually are, too many of their fans are the same people that root for Yankees, Lakers, Alabama football, etc. I refuse to be on the same side as them.

In order
Houston - I like how they play physical and rough
Duke :)() - they are far less hatable that at any point I can remember. Maybe it's just because we suck. Flagg is fun to watch though.
Florida - Meh? Clayton is also fun.
Auburn - I don't care for Pearl, but Broome is a very unique player and another fun watch.

None of these teams winning it would bother me all that much, but I'd prefer no SEC team.

Houston all day long. No way I can root for dook. I hate them. It also gets reeeeeaally annoying when my inlaws come over for dinner and talk about dook (they all graduated from there). Yuck.

If Houston beats Auburn, I finish 2nd in the bracket I do every year.

Unfortunately, for this bracket’s payout:

I know I'm not supposed to, but I like Jon Scheyer. His personality and positive energy remind me of Mike Hopkins. That said, I'm still not rooting for Duke.

The Florida coach creeps me out with his Young Sheldon vibes.

I would like to see Houston win it all. I know Kelvin Sampson had some shadiness at Indiana in the aughts, but whatever, we were on probation twice also. Life goes on.
