FInal Four = Successful Season?

Considering everything that has gone on and how well the team has played and not played, what is now the expectation for the team? Would a final four appearance be deemed a successful season or is it NC or bust? Are there others out there that could consider an Elite 8 "satisfactory"? I for one still think this team has a high ceiling if they play well. A NC is attainable. I would call a Final Four appearance a very successful season however.

FF would be an incredible feat after all the *t the players, coaches, and fans have been through the past 5 months. However, to get so close and lose would suck, so let's win it all and call it a day.

I'm tired of the what makes a successful season talk. That's all it really is ...talk. Crap happens and teams get beat. Mizzzou...favorite for the FF...Gone. Duke...gone. Vandy and FSU...trendy picks...gone. Ohio in the sweet 16. NC State...medicore all year...barely gets in...sweet 16. Its a damn crapshoot.

I more than anyone want this team to make the FF. I literally would cut off a finger for 2 more wins. If it doesnt happen...well I am going to be crushed, pissed and in the mumble tank for a month but that still doesnt take away from what has been a great season.

After the loss of Fab, I minimized my "FF or Bust" mentality. I, too, will mourn if we lose but I will also regard this as the second finest season we've ever had. Watching this tourney, I am reminded of what a crap shoot it is and to negate an entire season because of a loss is not something I am psychologically willing to do. Right now, if we beat Wisconsin and get to the EE, I will be pleased and proud of that team.

with fab it was definitely final 4 or bust for me, this team is long overdue for a deep tourny run. without him it changes a little bit, but we're still better than wisconsin and cincinnati. if we lose to either of those 2 teams ill be pissed. its still been an historic season regardless of what happens from this point on, but if we get bounced on thursday our reputation as tourny disappointments will just get bigger.

thursday is a really really really big game for this program, until we get over that sweet 16 hump nobody is gonna take us seriously come march, which is why so many "experts" and fans continually pick us to get upset.

I am asking strictly for this team this year, considering all of the issues we have had. I agree with you about the program as a whole.

Sweet 16 without your starting center + Big East champions + Most wins in school history + 1 seed.

Any one of these things equals a successful season in my book. How anybody can look back at this season and not consider it a success no matter what happens from here on out is absolutely baffling to me.

Winning 30+ games under the conditions this team has had to win them under is success in itself. If the Final Four doesn't happen, I will be incredibly disappointed. But to win 30 when this team could have imploded with all the negative stuff is a great success.

1. Strong start on Thursday: come out with fire
2. Get out on the shooters
3. Rebound
4. Minimize TO's

If anyone thinks making it to the FF or even winning the whole thing will quell the haters, think again. No matter what happens, no matter how far we go or don't go, the love or hatred or simple disregard of SU will remain just as it is.

I don't need to delineate all the combinations and perturbations of excuses, coulda-woulda-shoulda that will come out even if we win (you know, we got the easiest region, were seeded too high because we played a cupcake non-conference schedule and in a weakened Big East, blah blah)

It's all about what WE (the fans) want to see our team do and nothing short of winning it all is going to be really satisfying. Admit it. WE will then know the Orange played as well as we could have hoped.

So far this year they have been HIGHLY entertaining. I don't want it to end.

Elite Eight is successful for me. Otherwise, it's a disappointment. Yes I know anything can happen. One of those things that can happen is we don't make the most of an opportunity, hence my disappointment. Though I believe that luck plays a role, I think we should be able to control our own destiny as far as the Elite Eight.
