Anyone bite the bullet and buy tickets? If so where are you sitting and how much did you shell out?

I am debating if I should pull the trigger on some lower level baseline seats. They are around 1300 for both games.

I already have the flight and hotel room booked but I'm holding out on tickets. I went to NOLA for the first time for the Tulane football game and there was no doubt I was going back for FF weekend whether we are there or not.

I sprung for tickets to the Pitt opening round games. We have more than a 50% chance of being there so I think I am correct in my thinking. I have relatives there so it's not a complete loss if Cuse isn't there.

Where did you find a room?

I almost booked a room in Boston last night. Tempted too but the no refund thing is holding me back.

Booked a place on Bourbon. Hotel Orleans I believe. Certainly not cheap but we are going to pile people in there to cut down on costs

Did you buy tickets for both Thursday and Friday? I want to do the same thing but I don't know what day SU would play. I need to get a hotel so that is more of my concern.

Pittsburgh shouldn't have games on both Thursday and Friday, just one, right?

From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 9/22/09:

Duquesne, and the soon-to-be-completed Consol Energy Center, were selected yesterday as hosts for the NCAA first- and second-round men's basketball tournament games Thursday, March 15 and Saturday, March 17, 2012.

In 2003, hotel rooms and tix were easy. It was flights that were hard -- especially returning on Tuesday. There were some really odd routes that people had to take to get home. I remember Craig Forth's parents leaving the Marriott at 3 am (while the rest of us were still partying) to drive to some place in MIssissippi to catch a flight to Atlanta ... and then to change planes in Philly... in order to get back to Albany that day. People were also flying to DC through Detroit and taking other odd routes. If you can get a refundable flight, that might be the most important thing to do at this point.

You would be able to sell them to the participants' fans, should SU not make the cut. Probably at a tidy profit. Get rid of them ALL of them as my experience was that the finals game is cheap due the huge amount of tickets available from losing teams' fans.

Sorry the first time this didnt put in who I am replying to.

Cuseman78 - What is the deadline that Hotel Orleans makes you cancel on before you are charged? I had to book a place a couple miles off the strip to get a cancellation date after the Final Four field is set. I typically book a hotel when the season starts every year at the Final Four location. This was the first time I got pushed out because of cancellation deadlines.

FF will be tough for me but I made hotel reservations in Boston for the regionals. Crossing my fingers...

It's non-refundable. Im all in. Like you found out, you can't even sniff a hotel near the FQ without booking for 3 days and with no cancellation. I will be in NOLA that weekend whether we are there or not.

Im in the same boat, cant swing the final 4 but will definitely do boston if we get there. Did you get tickets for the games yet?

flight, rooms, tickets- check, check, check
feels a lot like 2003 (and '87 and whatever year that NC/Fab 5 game was)
we may have extra ticket for Saturday and an extra hotel room in the quarter.
New Orleans and the final 4 are an unbeatable combination

I was with the school contingent and had great seats, about two rows behind McNabb. When we picked up our tickets, scalpers were offering something like 2,500 per ticket (both games). Tickets go way down in price for Monday's game, unless you have primo seats (i.e. ones that corporate clients want).

FWIW, I went in 2007 to the FF at the Georgia Dome and had comparable seats. I sold my ticket (and my friend's) ticket to the final for $800 to some Florida fans who drove up the night before. We would have gotten more, but the tickets in our possession were not consecutive; i.e. we had seats 1 and 3, for example, while our friend in seat 2 made his own sale. Thus, the scalpers were hesitant to pay up.

As mentioned, the hardest part is flights. I had to wait until Wednesday before I could return to Chicago. Not that I really minded as I was out until about 7 am and slept until about 3 in the afternoon.

Not yet. Should have no problem between the university, other schools, host school. Last resort, stubhub or scalpers.
