Boston College’s first appearance atop the Women’s Division I Media Poll is at exactly the right time — the final one that matters the most.

The national champions lead the final poll voting. North Carolina had been No. 1 from preseason through the end of the regular season. Syracuse comes in at No. 2 after beating the odds, taking an injury-plagued team to the championship game.

Northwestern is No. 4, followed by Stony Brook to fill out the Top 5.
