For those that plan on tailgating tomorow both TexanMark and our Check Du jour Cuseregular are out with lower body injuries. As such we are going to try and go with a group effort for the tailgate. Tomcat and Myself will have our grills and Retro his bringing his deep fryer. If anyone has anything they would like to have deep fried Retro is willing to cook it up. As of now I am thinking of doing pulled pork if my GF doesn't change her mind. I know Mark has graciously donated a few beers leftover from NW but I would recommend people try to BYOB including soda and water if you want any as we wont be able to supply the masses tomorrow. Due to the issues of student parking in the Fine Lot I would recommend getting to the lot at least a few hours prior to the game, myself and a few others will look to get there between 11:30-Noon with it being a 4pm start.

Any questions post them here or PM myself or Tomcat or LincolnCuse.

Don't tell me they're still letting students park in that lot.

They are. The students are being whiny and the university doesn't want to grow a pair and crack down on the misuse of (heavily subsidized) student parking passes.

Probably best to get there early. And it couldn't hurt to complain to the powers-that-be. Athletics donors would be upset to learn how little students have to pay to bump them out of their spaces.

Just SU continuing to make the fan experience difficult. Im not one to give up tixs, but next year I think I'm paying the tixs and preferred cost and bagging the extra I give specifically for football. Just not worth getting nothing for something.

When I was a student, our parking permits clearly said "not valid during Dome events." We could park there any other time we wanted, but not when there was a game. Is that no longer the case?

PS: I was paying like $500 for 2 semesters back then, so it's not like students are getting spaces in these lots for $5 or anything.

How dare the students of a University park in a University parking lot. The nerve.

Then don't advertise it as football parking. As some other student said above, the lots used for football have always been off limits to students on game day.

Exactly, dont charge us nearly $300 bucks if we cant freeking part in one of the few lots that are left. I understand the students need a place to park but were talking 5 times a year thats not exactly asking a lot. I hate to say it but I am pretty sure the parking situation is going to be a nightmare tomorrow.

Before this thread has a lot of back and forth I am just going to skip to the end since I know where this will go.

As parking and tailgating slowly goes to zero, locals should just suck it up.

I think the real parking mess will be for Pitt, especially if we are 2-2...I think Stony Brook lot will be fullish but not totally full.

That seems to be the answer for everything, then those same people cant figure out why no one but the diehards show up week after week.

Would be nice if SU had a plan for once but judging by NW only a handful of students moved there cars and getting that was like pulling teeth. I suppose tomm might be slightly better with the late start but as you noted Pitt and Uconn are going to be a disaster.

There's no such thing as a lot that's just for Dome events. It's a university with 22,000 students & faculty, they need all those spots. All those buildings around the Dome? They have classes in them. However, Dome events are usually scheduled at times (night or weekends) that have fewer classes scheduled, so it was highly unlikely they needed the majority of those spots for academic reasons at those times.

However, if you were legitimately there for academic reasons (i.e. not going to the game), they still honored your parking permit, you just had to move from your assigned lot to a garage or some other far away lot. It was kind of a pain in the butt on occasion, because sometimes you actually are on campus during an event for school reasons, and you obviously picked a lot that was close to your classes, yet you ended up parking far away. I mean, I got it, it was a giant pain in the butt, but it's not like I didn't understand the reason. It's just something we dealt with a few hours a week and moved on with our day.

I'm actually shocked that students are getting in there during events. We always had a guy manning our lot during game days, going over our permits with a fine tooth comb, and we were denied entry 90% of the time. I guess they've gotten lax lately.

EDIT: Only exception was basketball games during the week. If I was in my lot in the morning, but hadn't left by night because I was still working in the computer lab, nobody was tracking me down to throw me out or anything. Never had much luck getting in on football game days though.

Not sure anyone said that.

Same location in the corner nearest the Dome? I drive in from Jersey so will I be screwed for parking on the Friday night games as I arrive at or around kickoff?

The Fine lot is being used for Dorm parking this year not for commuter or just day parking for classes or lab work. As a result when the attendant who checks passes gets there the lot is allready 50-75% full with students who live across the street. Thats where the problem lies if students dont come out and move theres nothing the lot attendant can really do.

Yes, not sure if its an option for you but I would recommend getting there at least an hour before kickoff if you can, its going to be a mob scene.

You will find a spot Bees. I'm sure this will be added to the infamous complaint list. Big bad SU screwing the man.

On Saturdays it's not an issue. On Fridays I'll be lucky if I can get there before the game begins. That's why I got a pass this year so I wouldn't have to try and find street parking.

Can I introduce you to the Paradise that is South Campus, Bees? Plenty of room up there (and a much nicer setting BTW.

You people need to get out more. Parking, traffic is not a problem in Syracuse, NY. At All.

Of course you look at it that way.
