Fine Lot Tailgate for tomorrow's Stony Brook game

On Saturdays it's not an issue. On Fridays I'll be lucky if I can get there before the game begins. That's why I got a pass this year so I wouldn't have to try and find street parking.

Let the attendant know tomorrow if you can, he can let the powers that be know what issues lie ahead and perhaps we will get lucky and SU will get out in front of an issue before it happens.

The Fine lot is being used for Dorm parking this year not for commuter or just day parking for classes or lab work. As a result when the attendant who checks passes gets there the lot is allready 50-75% full with students who live across the street. Thats where the problem lies if students dont come out and move theres nothing the lot attendant can really do.

Oooh. That's a tough one then. I totally understood when I was being asked to move to a different lot when I was just there for class work, but being asked to move when you're basically in your home? Wow, I can see both sides of that one. No easy answers there! Hopefully they figure something out that works for both groups.

You people need to get out more. Parking, traffic is not a problem in Syracuse, NY. At All.

Who is complaining about traffic? I have zero issue with the traffic before or after the game though I have to say all the construction doesnt help an allready constricting area. I just dont see why you have an issue that people who pay nearly 300 bucks to park for 5 games are a little miffed that the situation is screwed up and not being handled properly. I am sure if it was your spot and your money you might have a different opinion. Oh and I get out plenty including Metlife last week.

I totally understand thats there dorm parking and I get its a hassle but if your SU you cant close other lots and consolidate those ticket holders to the Fine lot with passes to make up for it and then have 60% of the lot full by 8:55 am for NW. People are paying dame good money to park there for only a handful games the entire year, I dont think were asking a lot.

Of course you look at it that way.

Not sure what that means. But if you are intimating that I don't go to games and therefore dont need to worry about parking, I have seasons, will be there tomorrow, will be driving 4 hours to get there, and will still not complain about parking/traffic/concessions/opening video.

SU has a problem with letting people know about issues. They take your money and them there is always an oops.

I do the same. You don't hear me complaining. And I have a 4 hour drive tomorrow AM to boot. Lets be positive tomorrow boys.

That's nice.

BTW, who complained about the opening video?

I hear ya I made the 41/2 - 5 hour drive last Friday and Sunday its a hike. No ones complaining Bees is simply pointing out that its another in a long line of issues that seems to get blown off by SU and others as being no big deal. Again when your paying that kind of money you just want to know you will have a spot and be able to tailgate. Were not talking about showing up 45 min before kickoff and looking for the red carpet treatment were talking about getting there 5 hours prior to kickoff and the lot is more then half full.

What people don't get, and think that locals and long time donors are just whining, is that it is not just one thing, or two or three....it's the cumulative effect of a lot of things over about 2 decades. It's not you or I either since we still go and donate. It's the 15,000, or whatever the number is, of the lost seasons and the inability to replace them.

Yup so true, its the unknown number fans who basically said " it" and just don't go to games anymore that is killing attendance. Also hurts that were not bringing in new local fans who maybe didnt grow up being SU fans or simply dont follow the program.

I'm going to call this week and complain about the parking problem. If it's not corrected, I will not pay to park in the Fine Lot next year. I don't know of another university that uses its game day parking as a student lot as well. If you're going to play big time football, do things big time. My rant is over.

If Parking and Transportation wanted to make a statement, they would issue tickets to all the cars parked illegally during Dome events.

I know for a fact they don't have a problem writing tickets to cars that aren't parked illegally. :D

Same location in the corner nearest the Dome? I drive in from Jersey so will I be screwed for parking on the Friday night games as I arrive at or around kickoff?
TBD buddy...the parking guys were letting Fine Lot people park in adjacent lots as Fine filled up.

If the lot is going to be used for student parking, just tell us so. Don't charge $275 to park in a lot where there's limited parking and you can't park with others in your group. Just absurd.

And it was awesome when the spoiled brat for the NW game threw some entitled attitude around when things were not instantly moved when she came out of the Dorm to drive off in her car.

They shouldn't sell 100 parking passes if they only expect 50 vacant spots on gameday. Where do the other 50 pass holders go?

LOL tell me about it, what a b^tch. I am hoping things will be better with the later start today but I think it maybe wishful thinking on my part.

Then don't advertise it as football parking. As some other student said above, the lots used for football have always been off limits to students on game day.

When I parked down there for school as long as you were parked before the parking crew set up shop in the booth you were there and there was nothing they could do about it. If you show up after, then you couldn't park there.

Will be interesting to see what today looks like, as I noted maybe with the later start more cars will be moved. I am hoping to set up where we always do in the upper corner but if its full again we may have to re-arrange.

How dare the students of a University park in a University parking lot. The nerve.

Come on, man. Your take is usually quite reasonable. But we're talking about students who aren't paying for the privilege to park during Dome events. They're willfully parking illegally. And they - who pay a tiny fraction of market rate for their passes - are bumping people who give real money to the athletic department.

The students are wrong and the University isn't handling it well. Tow the illegally-parked students; paying an impound fee that's 50% of the yearly parking rate will discourage that behavior in a big hurry.

Those new dorms are privately owned,so then why does the university allows those students park there. shouldn't the privately owned company cut a deal with the parking garage instead.
