Honestly, this team is 1-8 without McCord. I mean, we can’t substitute some QB that doesn’t exist in for McCord if he were hurt. So, realistically, we don’t beat anyone but HC. Who are the ACC teams we beat without McCord? Also, without our passing game against Ohio we lose that game too. SU is not that good. McCord changes our entire dynamic. If Fran doesn’t land him, this year would be a disaster. However, thankfully he did.

This is true. And something people forget. At least we didn’t hire Ryan Day as an assistant only to see McCord go to Nebraska.

To some degree, definitely. Not so sure the 2-7 record without Kyle is hyperbolic, that’s if we had CDRW or a freshman at QB. It’s a moot point, we have him thank goodness and hopefully we can get to 8-4

I respect your opinion. After all, they are all just opinions. But I think most people overestimate the team we have as evidenced by popular projections for the team’s success. I think there are very few if any QBs we could’ve gotten that would make this version of SU football into a winning team. That’s how good McCord has been for us. And, I’m not prone to hyperbole about McCord either, but he’s been tremendous, warts and all. I don’t see many scenarios where we beat GT or NC St or VT without McCord as QB. There are only a handful of college QBs out there that could make us competitive with our online and run game issues (not to mention our defensive woes) and McCord is one of them. The others I don’t think we had any chance at getting. We’re very fortunate that Fran was able to land him. It’s probably the best thing Fran has done so far. I like what Fran is doing but if we’re looking at things objectively, this season probably would’ve gone down as a complete throw away if not for McCord. That’s how much a QB like that change things. But, we did get him, so good on Fran. By the way, I don’t think McCord will do much in the NFL if anything. I had a guy argue with me that he was the next Brady or Manning. I don’t think so but that doesn’t mean he’s not a really, really good college QB who’s been a lifesaver for us.

Has there EVER been a preseason top 10 team that has completely and totally quit on their season like FSU has?

I mean we’ve seen team fall out of the rankings and have mediocre, or even bad, seasons. But this is a team not trying the entire back half of their schedule.

They should be ashamed, except we know no one associated with Florida State is capable of shame.

This FSU fall from top 10 through this point of the season is so many orders of magnitude worse than SU's 1993 collapse from preseason through the end.

Just adding to the catastrophe is that FSU is now 50-46 over the last eight years. The ACC lawsuit was somewhat predicated on the idea FSU is a perennial national championship contender and a huge national draw. That made sense after 10-3 & 13-1 seasons - they could argue the previous 5 years were a short blip that all programs have and now they are back on track. This year implodes that narrative and expose the possibility the last two years were a dead cat bounce of a rapidly declining program.

It’s not like Tallahassee is a huge and desirable market - all the appeal of FSU hinges on them winning. So this year is making an already questionable idea to sue the ACC look absolutely insane.

In other words, a huge percentage of FSU fans are bandwagoners with no natural affiliation with the university. Since band wagon fans aren’t known for sticking around though rough times, those fans will migrate to something else if FSU doesn’t turn it around quickly. Since there’s about 9 billion other options in Florida, finding something else won’t be a challenge.

My point still stands - if FSU isn’t a big winner, there is no reason for an SEC or Big Ten to want them. Their fan base is as stable and durable as a fart in the wind.

Not really. There's 3 schools in FL. UM's base is mostly SoFla. UF and FSU, have the majority of support state wide.

UCF is more of a regional thing at this point, maybe that changes in 20 years but not yet, they have a lot of ground to make up.

Their brand has really taken a hit. Quitting in the bowl game and setting a postseason record for major bowl azz-whuppings, apparently had a lingering effect.
