Will this win be enough for FSU to leapfrog the ducklings from the PAC? I know the ducklings are media darlings and have all that Nike money behind them, but sooner or later people have to take into account that the PAC is a weaker conference.

Thankfully there's a playoff next season and we won't have to have these arguments anymore.

Probably not but it should. Oregon got waaaaaaay to much credit for beating ucla and fsu hamstrung themselves by scheduling idaho before florida (who keeps losing) to end the regular season. You can't schedule SEC style if you're not getting SEC bias from the pollsters.

Yes, but the Ducks play Stanford on Thursday which will probably bring it right back

I'm not sold on the PAC. They absolutely got way too much credit for beating UCLA. Stanford, yes that's a good win, just like FSU destroying Clemson in Death Valley was a good win. UCLA like Miami was overrated.

Eye test tells me Oregon doesn't have a chance against Bama. FSU does.

They should jump them for now, but Oregon is viewed as having a tougher overall schedule because the PAC is considered stronger top to bottom than the ACC. If Oregon beats Stanford, they'll be back at 2. I don't think it has anything to do with them being a media darling though. The media doesn't love anyone more than Jameis Winston right now. The hard part is getting the human voters to drop a team in the polls without them first losing a game. FSU may fall victim to being ranked lower than Oregon in the preseason even though they look like a more dominant team right now.

I think FSU's best chance is for not only them to run the table in a dominating fashion, but also have Miami run the table handily so that they meet again as Top 10's in the ACC Championship...or have Oregon stub their toe. I'll puke if Oregon gets a shot at Bama.

Another reason to applaud the new playoff system is that the preseason polls won't mean s h i t e next year.

long shot but maybe the mad hatter can pull the upset on Saturday. I'd be cool with Bama losing and I don't see them losing to whomever represents the East in the SEC title game, so the LSU game might be our last chance to see a Bama loss.

A "healthier" UGA could give them trouble in what would be their season maker.

eyes tell me FSU is the best team in the country. I keep thinking back to VT, and Johnny Manziel shredding Bama.

Oregon always seems to gag when they play a big physical non Pac12 defense.

It will be a crime if FSU isn't in this championship game in one way or another

FSU was ahead of them after the Clemson win (which was the first BCS release). Then Oregon gained enough points beating UCLA to overtake them. I wouldn't be surprised if FSU jumps back to #2 this week. But then Oregon gets it back should they beat Stanford.

At that point, it's tough to say who gets more credit for their in-state rivalry game, as each of their in state rivals have fallen apart. The one thing working against FSU is that game against Idaho.

As much as I'd like to see FSU in that game against Alabama, I really just want to see an undefeated Ohio State left out. But yes, it would be so much better if they were left out in favor of the undefeated ACC team.

Just like they don't mean shite in hoops now but people still get all into them

It certainly reduces much of their unfair influence. Four teams may not be enough in the rare occurrence that there is a non-BCS conference team that passes the look test while going undefeated and ends up behind a 1 or 2 loss BCS team. I think an eventual expansion to 8 teams will be perfect. I'm looking forward to next year's playoff though.

FSU is going to want to apply an epic beatdown.

Could be wicked ugly.

Noles really making up ground in the human polls as well. They are only 9 points off the quackers in the AP and have more first place votes as well. BCS rankings could get interesting if fsu passes oregon there.

Absofrigginlutely! No Ohio State. That would be great on so many levels.

SEC East will be a fun race down the stretch. Missouri has a 1 game lead in the loss column, and plays @UK, @Ole Miss, and vs. Texas A&M. UGA plays @Auburn and vs. UK. S. Carolina only has 1 SEC game left vs. Florida. If Mizzou loses one game and UGA/USCe win out in conference, they'll have a 3 way tie with a 1-1 record in common games. I think they use the BCS standings to break the tie in that scenario. In the latest BCS standings Mizzou is 8, USCe is 12, and UGA is not ranked, so if the 3 way tie scenario happens it all comes down to the USCe/Clemson game. A Missouri loss down the stretch and USCe winning out would give Spurrier the higher BCS ranking and the shot at Alabama. I don't think a UGA win over Auburn will be enough to make up the difference in the BCS. Since UGA has virtually no shot in the 3 way tie scenario they need Missouri to lose twice. Missouri beat UGA and UGA beat USCe, so if UGA can get in a tie just with USCe the 'dawgs will win that tiebreaker.

No arguments next year? Yeah right. There will be plenty of arguments for the 4th playoff spot.

I'm still trying to figure out who Alabama beat to be so intrenched into the #1 spot. A 2 loss A&M and really...who else? A 3 loss VT? FSU has beat two undefeated teams that still only have one loss. God this poll crap really peeves me off.

I don't mind someone staying at #1 if they won the previous national title, are in a power conference, and are yet to be defeated. They can stay there until someone knocks them out.

The only exception to the above scenario is Ohio State. Or Virginia Tech.

I firmly believe at this stage of the season it's your body of work that makes you #1, not the preseason poll.

Well, I was going back to last year as well. Alabama has lost 2 games in 2.67 seasons. One by 5 points, one by 3 points. 2 national titles. Avenged both losses.

I think it's hard to look at all of that and say well I think Florida State should be #1 and Oregon should be #2 and Ohio State should be #25.

Fixed. And I agree. But we both know that is not how it works.
