Florida State and the BCS...

First off...I truly hate the polls. Second...this is 2013 and to be honest what somebody did in 2012 should not matter. Also, if you do use the criteria of not losing, OSU should be #1 since they have the longest winning streak.

Bama always gets a second chance to avenge a loss while others don't have that option. They don't even play Missouri, Florida, Georgia or USCe unless they make the SEC championship game and have played the 2 bottom feeders in the SEC east Kentucky and Tennessee. I just see Oregon or FSU getting screwed.

You forgot to mention how mediocre the SEC is this year :).

I thought I was clear that Ohio State was exempt because I hate them?

I absolutely do not want Alabama to win a national title. I know how painful that would be for just about everyone. But if it turned out they didn't belong in that game, we'll find out. When they lose. And that will be the end of the SEC's grace period.

FSU needs Miami and Clemson to win out, or their resume isn't going to look as good either.

Oregon needs Stanford and UCLA to win out.

Ohio State needs someone else in the B1G to actually win a game.

One year from now it won't matter. It would be 4 of the current top 5 in a playoff. Odds are that at least one of them will lose before the end of the season.

Will conference championships still exist under the playoff rules? I dont think it would make sense anymore at that point.

I want Alabama in the game so they can be beaten by someone not in the SEC. If they lose in conference, all of the SEC morons will say that it's still the best conference and that Alabama should make it in over an undefeated team. If they go undefeated and lose in the NC game, they'll have to finally shut up. I hope FSU is that team because they're ACC and I believe they're better than Oregon.

long shot but maybe the mad hatter can pull the upset on Saturday. I'd be cool with Bama losing and I don't see them losing to whomever represents the East in the SEC title game, so the LSU game might be our last chance to see a Bama loss.
Auburn will pose a problem.

Those that want the event as a money maker will keep it. SEC most certainly would.

Here's an interesting point that keeps coming up about the playoff committee. It's subjective, doesn't matter if you win your conference championship. Let's say Oregon wins the P12 championship but loses Mariota to an injury in the game, and it's widely known that it's an injury that will keep him out of the postseason. That can be a factor in the process which would leave them out of the playoffs.

Eventually, I think conference championships might go away because the playoffs are more important. How many sellouts has the ACC had? I don't think they'd mind. Pac 12 doesn't even play it at a neutral field. B1G hasn't had time, or the right matchup, to make it an event yet. Big 12, which had been one of the more entertaining Conference championship games in the relatively short era, doesn't even have one anymore.

So that leaves the SEC. Going to be hard to stop having that event. Because that's what it is.

Once Alabama loses to Les and LSU this week we won't have to have this argument.

Will this win be enough for FSU to leapfrog the ducklings from the PAC? I know the ducklings are media darlings and have all that Nike money behind them, but sooner or later people have to take into account that the PAC is a weaker conference.

Thankfully there's a playoff next season and we won't have to have these arguments anymore.
We will get slaughtered by the best team in the country on nation television. At least we will get trashed by the best. No miracles will be happening here. Sure I will watch hoping for the alternative but we all know what will happen. Our secondary will be chasing the Seminoles' backside all afternoon. :bat:

That's an unfair advantage to a playoff seed that plays that extra game. I think the conference championships would have to go away. Especially since a safe assumption would be that the two teams in the SEC championship game would likely be in the playoffs.

I'm still trying to figure out who Alabama beat to be so intrenched into the #1 spot. A 2 loss A&M and really...who else? A 3 loss VT? FSU has beat two undefeated teams that still only have one loss. God this poll crap really peeves me off.

The preseason polls ranked them #1 and enough voters haven't changed their minds. Even if Bama loses they don't fall far enough and and up worming their way back in the title picture.

I hate the political BS. Win your conference and you move on. I don't like the 4 playoff thing either as we all know if the SEC has the same record as anyone they are automatic and it might mean 2 slots out of 4 which once again gives them a better chance to prove they are the best.

Bama hasn't given them a chance to change their minds because their schedule has been pretty easy. FSU should be #1 and Oregon/Bama/OSU and Baylor fighting for that 2nd slot.

conference championships are supposed to have weight in the new CFB playoff

I'm hoping we can hold them to double-digits. :(
