Florida State clock operator

I think there may have been shananagans going on there... Unless the TV clock wasn't synced... There were times during our last drive that the clock stopped when it shouldn't have,,,

I heard about this after the fact. The clock didn't run for like 20 seconds I was told. I'll have to check it out.

I saw that too, one instance late in the 4th, i believe we had the ball and gained two yards on a wide screen pass, receiver stayed in bounds, clock stopped and didn’t run again until we pretty much snapped the ball. I said at the time « I think the clock operator is blatantly cheating » but forgot about it until now. Should probably be looked into.

Just watched it. It was the WR screen to Courtney that Elmore whiffs the block on. Jackson hits the ground at 2:16 and the clock correctly keeps counting down.

-At 2:12 the 40 second play clock starts counting down.

-At 2:10 the game clocks stops and the play clock is at :37. But the play clock keeps winding down from :37 all the way to :26 seconds while the play clock is still showing 2:10. At :26 seconds the play clock resets to :40 seconds. Game clock still at 2:10.

-When then play clock resets to 40 seconds there is another 7 second delay before both clocks start winding down together.

All told the clock didn't run for 17-20 seconds when it should have been running. I don't see any reason the clocks were stopped. Tackled in the field, no first down, no injury, no time out, no review, officials not holding up play etc. Looks like something shady was going on.

I assume nobody on the field noticed it, but if your Syracuse getting into the start of a 2 minute drill it's not a bad thing the clock was stopped.

Official clock is held on the field with the refs
If that was the case, the clock would have expired :20 before the scoreboard clock at the end of the game, which would have meant the game ended before FSU called their final TO for the kick.
The clock snafu didn't actually matter because of the run-down at the end, but it could have mattered if the holding gets called.

But with less time, SU may have managed the clock differently and FSU may have just elected to go to OT. Hard to say what would have transpired.

Lol, you said SU and managed the clock in the same sentence.
The reality is that someone on the SU sideline should have been watching the clock at that point in the game. We really should have wanted less time on the clock being near midfield. I noticed the clock had stopped and was wondering why we snapped the ball with so much time remaining on the play clock once it restarted.
From a clock management standpoint, on 2nd and 8, you want to bleed the clock there just in case you don't pick up the first down. If we did pick up the first, 1:00 is ample time with 2 TOs and over midfield.
But Dino is absolutely horrendous at clock management.

This right here

But that would have involved advanced clock management... And we can't even handle remedial...

Why in the world would we snap the ball with 37 seconds left on the play clock is mind boggling... We were already at mid field had 2 timeouts and plenty of time... Incredibly frustrating... Especially since there were times we were barely getting the play off before that...

When we should go fast we go slow... When we should go slow we go fast... Can't fix clueless... Or can you? My biggest Dino complaint...

here is the deal. The game clock is really kept on the field.. How did no official notice that the game clock and the field clock were so out of sync? you see them all the time change the clock for being off 1-2 secs but 20 secs they didnt notice? Its not like we were going fill bore making it hard to keep up?
