Florida State Not Bowl Eligible...

Must be some bored Gator Fan

Yeah. I know a UF grad who literally spent the whole fall avoiding talking about UF, and instead just made fun of FSU whenever he could. It’s like he was completely oblivious to the fact that FSU beat them in both football and hoops.

It would never happen because $, but if they play this year as an ineligible team they should be banned for one year from any bowl or post season games.

"Too late" is BS. High School teams are ruled ineligible during playoffs, sometimes within a couple days of their game and they find a way to substitute the next team. And there's just as much logistics issues in HS playoffs as there is in a bowl game.

You're not flying to your destination in HS playoffs. You're not having to gather your team from around the country in HS playoffs.

There's a TON more logistic issues in a bowl game as there is in HS playoffs.

Assuming the players are home for the holidays you have a point, otherwise, flying is no different than busing. Charter flights are easy to grab.

Gathering team from around the country was the first thing that came to my mind. If you aren't playing a bowl game, teams have gone home for Christmas already.

This news came out December 21st.

WMU - Finals ended 12/14
Buffalo - Finals ended 12/15
UTSA - Finals ended 12/15

and thus they get to set a record for consecutive bowl games. does it get an asterisk now?

The committee, the NC2A and the ACC absolutely cannot allow something like this to happen. Sloppy and looks really bad. It matters too. Some other team earned the right to play against Southern Mississippi. I know Reece Davis and Booger said bowl games dont matter in the era of the CFP, but bowl games do matter for many reasons. Trust that the system is run well matters too.

Everyone's home for the holidays. Additionally, WMU has several players prepping for post-season games (e.g. Shriner's or Senior Bowl). No way could they get it together in time to go. Besides, think WMU would be in the same boat as FSU in that they played an FCS team that is under the 90% threshold mentioned in the reddit article.

Think they set a record for bowl appearances, but NOT bowl eligibility. Really, though, a distinction without a difference.

If you have to go through this much to prove your win against Delaware St counted, haven't you kind of lost already?

But wait, I read here that bowls don't really matter. People will remember that FSU had to fight to prove its D-1AA win counted, while Syracuse didn't go bowling because it played a too-tough OOC schedule, right? So Syracuse came out looking like the winner, right? We want Bama!

it was pretty meaningless this late in the game anyway to question eligibility
