a certain amount of attention to details. Anything less than the appropriate amount of attention to details in all phases and the probability begins to rise that the results will be something less than pretty. Football also demands a certain amount of micromanagement, and this is especially true when departments are running below expectations.

It's always a balance, but like any other kind of performance you want to ask all of the right questions as many times as needed in all phases in order to err on the side of being prepared. In football the grind is as much about mental preparation as about anything else. SU often looks confused, easily distracted, and mentally disengaged. The situations pass by without any consistent sign that SU is out in front and context ready.

This is a time to get really humble, ask all the right questions, and answer them honestly.

Does the ship go down with everyone on the deck or does he start making changes now? I'm afraid the family atmosphere schtick is going to cloud his decision making relative to certain position coaches.

I hate to be negative on this board because I respect the difficult nature of competitive college football, and so I do my best to remain positive even when I have to chew a hole in my tongue. I just hope the difficult questions are being asked. You have to approach problems regardless of the relationship.

It's time to dig deep that much is obvious. What specifically needs to be changed is something that the people on the inside need to get clear on. Let's hope they can work this out one way or another because the competitive nature of college football is unforgiving. You develop resiliency and approach problems or you stay stuck and suffer.

Negative or realism? Behavior is a trait, and a pattern that over time is deemed one's true colors. Unfortunately, this team's apparent true colors continues to rear its ugly head. Same inefficiency in the Red Zone, same self-inflicted miscues, same inability to capitalize on turnovers, coaching inadequacies, etc., etc. And, whether desired, it becomes the culture, until the culture changes. I'm not suggesting that HCSS needs to go, but something needs to change or else the same undesirable result will continue to ensue.

This team's personality has mystified me since the unfolding of August camp. I think the student athletes on this team have shown themselves to be high character with a strong work ethic. But yeah, I think some of the obvious changes have to do with attention to detail, being prepared mentally, playing with awareness of context and a sense of informed urgency. How any necessary changes are made is an inside issue that is really beyond the scope for me as a fan. I hope this staff can find the problems and develop solutions soon.
