They must know...

Syracuse: Following yesterday’s loss at NC State, Syracuse has now lost 8 straight games and for the second season in a row Syracuse only has one ACC win. In three years as head coach, Shafer has seen his team’s win totals drop from 7 to 3 to 3 (with one game remaining vs Boston College). Sources tell FootballScoop that members of Shafer’s staff believe they, as a group, will not return next season.

Weird. So no word has come down from on high but, in the coaches' own opinion, they're getting canned?

I am sure the coaches have been told there fate already and our AD is waiting to announce it.

We have had two teams just win National Championships...maybe the AD wants them to have their time in the sun?

No I meant that if the sources are quoted correctly, it would seem that no decision has been made by the AD but the coaches nevertheless believe that they gone. The possibility of them being fired in the future is not strange but that the coaches would admit that (to others) before the last ballgame is a bit weird. What does that do to the betting line for the BC game?

Key words being:"...as a group...".
Does that leave wiggle room for HCSS to return w/ changes to his staff?
Just spit-ballin' here.:noidea:

Aha! Good sleuthing. Could well be.

That's got to be a difficult thing to keep secret for so long, though, right?

I would hope to hear something this week. Can't drag this out IMO. If we have decided to move on then just announce it and move on. Leave it up to Shafer if he wants to coach the last game or not. No point in waiting until the last game is over.

I don't think it's being dragged out when Coyle himself said that he'd wait until the season concluded before doing anything. That being said, a week from today sounds like a good time for an announcement.

I would just like to have it announced tomorrow so the players and coaching staff don't have to listen to some "fans" hurling insults at Shafer as he leaves the field. If everyone knows the fans can so there appreciation for the years Shafer has given to the program spas th DC and HC.

I don't think that will happen.

It already happened the last home game. That's why I don't mind the smaller crowds. The real fans who don't behave like spoiled kids. Also at the end of the Clemson game when I leave my section for the exit, the staff in the booth always comes through with security heading to the locker room. I see them at halftime and at the end. Few guys in the hall way we're hurling insults at them too. Bullough was getting it bad. I hate our fans.

I've said this before but when they reconfigure the Dome, they have to find a way to get coaches from the booth to the locker room without interacting with the commoners.

I've given them words of encouragement at halftime of rough games, but can't imagine trash talking them. That's when you really have to question your life.
