For all those who think pass heavy offense is the way to go

Slight hijack, but the questions I want asked (in some form) are, "Why did we have so many injuries this year?" and "What do you plan to do to ensure that it does not happen again next year?" I want to hear from Shafer's mouth whether he thinks it is purely random, or the result of something that is within their power to control.

I wonder if going for quickness in prep for faster tempo over weight/pure strength was a huge mistake.

I have wondered the same thing. If Lester is indeed the OC, I hope he builds a simpler playbook, a la 2012. Few basic formations, options out of the formations. Drill the hell out of the basics, not at breakneck speed, until the guys can do it in their sleep. Then slowly increase the practice tempo.

has anyone heard any interviews with lester or shafer about the direction they're heading next year?

they should put something on the syracuse youtube account or something. they need to start selling

there was one article with a line about 12 personnel, that's about it

I don't want to go back through all of the articles I just read, but I am pretty sure the new JUCO TE stated a reason for committing was our needs for TE's in the 12 personnel. Sounds like that's where we are going, which makes sense since that's what he has experience with.

i believe the quote was "that's what losers do."

Here, here. I gave up a few years ago on being upset that we play in a perfectly controlled domed enviornment but don't seek to take advantage of it. At this point, I'd settle for running an offense--ANY offense--well. I don't care what it is, so long as we do it well and score some @#$% points.
I am not there yet. I can't bring myself to accept that.

In fact, I'm convinced that our refusal to take advantage of the gift that the Dome is angers the football gods, and they will not permit us to succeed offensively until we commit to the passing game.

And I guess you're in the position to determine motives.

got it.

No, I'm just making jokes.

People take this stuff way too seriously.

As I have said before, we have to have an offense that can score 30+ points per game. Last time we did was 2012 (just barely). While I prefer a high powered passing game, I really don't care what they run as long as they score points. If it takes a return to an option game or power I or whatever - just score points.

If we are going to a 12 package can we please give the zillion RB's more than a few carries each per game? Pick a couple and stick with them so they can get into a rhythm.

While we are at it, can we please junk the run back play where the returner runs straight into the largest group of defenders on the field?

Where's your data?
Lots of research out there. Will get links tomorrow. It's also common sense that good teams run out the clock with leads. We see it plenty against us. I gave a few examples already
