Welcome to Shredded Wheat Day!

Shredded wheat is a breakfast cereal made from whole wheat formed into pillow-like biscuits. It is commonly available in three sizes — bite sized (¾×1 in), miniature (nearly half the size of the bite-sized pieces), and original. Both smaller sizes are available in a frosted variety, which has one side coated with sugar and usually gelatin. Some manufacturers have produced "filled" versions of the bite-size cereal containing a raisin at the center, or apricot, blueberry, raspberry or cranberry filling.

3 reasons why the Syracuse Orange are going to be better than you think | isportsweb (isportsweb.com; Godnick)

There isn’t much noise regarding the Syracuse Orange for a reason: they’re losing a lot of talent. Three major players in Tyler Lydon, John Gillon, and Andrew White III will no longer be on the floor of the Carrier Dome come the winter time, a deficit that will be hard to make up for the Orange.

Despite the loss of these three key players, Syracuse still has a roster that can cause any opponent some trouble on any given night. They may not have the stars that other top schools will be showcasing, but the complete roster the Orange have next year will be one that you can’t take lightly.

A chance for Tyus Battle and Taurean Thompson to take over

Battle and Thompson were role players last year, and rightfully so. They hadn’t proven their capabilities just yet, and there were other players on the team who were more capable of making the right play at the right time.

However, the 2017-2018 season will go as well as Battle and Thompson want it to go as it’ll be there team to lead this year. Battle will find himself with the ball more often, giving him a chance to use his athleticism to get easy shots; Thompson will be able to showcase his craftiness around the rim with even more touches next season.

Versatile wings

Coach Jim Boeheim loves utilizing his athletic wings that are capable of playing multiple positions. Having players who can play both the top and bottom of the zone will help the team create steals that turn into easy fast-break points.

Man apparently climbs barrier to get selfie with polar bear at Buffalo Zoo (PS; TNS)

An apparent quest for a selfie with a 1,000-pound polar bear at the Buffalo Zoo ended with the arrest of a Lackawanna man Friday.

Buffalo police charged Marwan M. Taher, 35, of Elkhart Street with criminal trespass after he allegedly climbed over a barrier into a restricted area of the polar bear exhibit and approached a bear that was behind a wire-mesh fence. Neither Taher nor the bear, a male named Sakari, was injured.

"He was not in the actual bear pit," said Zoo spokesman Christian Dobosiewicz. "He walked up to the mesh. We don't know what he was doing. We don't think he made any contact with the bear."

A police report suggested that Taher may have been trying to take a cell-phone picture of himself with the bears.

Other zoo visitors spotted Taher around 4:45 p.m. near the fence and alerted zoo staff. Taher fled the area and was tracked by security staff into the parking lot, where police officers who were on routine patrol in the area stopped him.

"Zoo guests realized something was not right and made our staff aware," said Dobosiewicz. "I don't know what he was thinking, and I don't want to speculate on what he was thinking."

School spirit or CNY spirit?

I've gone to several ACC opponent games and have seen school spirit greater than Syracuse. Yes, we have great crowds, but I guess you'd have to have a broad definition of school spirit to rate in #1 and not just #1 in attendance.
