Welcome to National Clean Up Your Room Day!

National Clean Up Your Room Day is observed annually on May 10. This is a day parents appreciate much more than do their children.

National Clean Up Your Room Day isn’t just for kids to clean their rooms. It is about picking up, straightening up and cleaning up. It is a day to do some serious spring cleaning and make your surroundings more pleasant. Clean out a cluttered closet and donate or throw away those things you are not using. Help your children make their beds, clean their rooms and eliminate the toys and clothing they have outgrown.

HOW TO OBSERVE

Spend some time getting your home looking and feeling clean and fresh for summer. Post photos on social media using #CleanUpYourRoomDay.

Tyus Battle works out in California in preparation for NBA Combine (PS; Ditota)

Tyus Battle is in Los Angeles these days, working on his game in preparation for the NBA Combine.

Battle, who finished his sophomore season at Syracuse as his team's leading scorer (19.2 ppg), completed his school work at SU, went home to New Jersey and then flew with his father to California, Gary Battle said.

There, he continues to work to improve his game. The NBA Combine, for which Battle is one of about 70 players to accept invitations, takes place from May 16-20 in Chicago.

"He's working on his entire game," his dad, Gary, said, "but he's really working on the NBA 3-point shot with the NBA ball. And everything is being tightened up."

Tyus Battle worked out for the Los Angeles Clippers this week and could also work out for other NBA teams before leaving for Chicago next week. Gary Battle said his son played well during the Clippers workout. There had been some discussion about whether Battle would work out for teams before the combine, but Gary Battle said Tyus "really wanted" to participate in workouts.

Osun Osunniyi and the Bonnies are a Perfect Match - A10 Talk (a10talk.com; Revo)

Since their loss to Florida in the first round of the NCAA tournament, Mark Schmidt and co. have been searching tirelessly to fill some, if not all, of the six open scholarships. Their were originally five open scholarships, but Izaiah Brockington’s departure, and the commitments of Kyle Lofton, Dom Welch, and Melkisedek Moreaux have left three potential scholarships remaining for this upcoming year. Schmidt has been a fan of keeping at least one in his back pocket, so there is a high likelihood he only signs one or two more players. The 6-10 former La Salle commit Osun Osunniyi would fit perfectly in the Bonnies system.

Here’s why

Osun is a Perfect Match for the Bonnies Because…
The Frontcourt is Incredibly Thin

This was already apparent last season, but the Bonnies have still not signed a player over 6-6 for the 2018-19 season. It wasn’t a huge issue last season, since they often played small with LaDarrien Griffin playing the 5. However, with Josh Ayeni hurt and Amadi Ikpeze in consistent foul trouble, more often they had to play with the small lineup out of necessity than choice. Adding another center would let Schmidt have the option of going big or small when necessary.

https://accsports.com/acc-news/sacha-killeya-jones-visits-3-acc-schools-nc-state-pitt-wake/ (accsports.com; Geisnger)

According to a report from ESPN college hoops recruiting insider Jeff Borzello, former Kentucky forward Sacha Killeya-Jones has lined up visits with three ACC programs. A fourth looms on the horizon, too.

Currently, SKJ is mid-visit in Raleigh with NC State; in a few days, he will travel north to meet with Jeff Capel and Pittsburgh. Two weeks from now, he will head to the Piedmont Triad for a visit with Wake Forest.

Killeya-Jones, a former 5-star recruit from Chapel Hill, is in contact with North Carolina; however, a visit date is not yet set.

Kentucky transfer Sacha Killeya-Jones is visiting NC State tonight and tomorrow, and Pittsburgh this weekend, his former coach Fred Cannon told ESPN.

Also has a trip to Wake Forest Memorial Day Weekend.

North Carolina has been in consistent contact, but no visit set yet.

Prior to committing to Kentucky, Sacha Killeya-Jones pledged to Virginia and Tony Bennett. The Cavs don’t appear to be in this picture, though.

Sunbathers enjoying a beach on Onondaga Lake years ago...

http://www.syracuse.com/news/index...._forward_at_phenomenal_moment_in_history.html (PS; Coin)

Onondaga County legislators today took the next step toward studying and possibly building a beach on Onondaga Lake.

The Onondaga County Legislature's Environmental Protection Committee voted to accept a state grant of $330,000 to pay for the study and design of a beach on the lake, probably at Willow Bay.

Swimming has been banned on the lake since 1940 because of industrial pollution and sewage overflows, but studies show most of the lake is clean enough for swimming again.

"Years ago, I never thought that in my lifetime we would even be talking about this," said committee chairman Michael Plochocki, R-Marcellus. "This is a phenomenal moment in history."

The committee voted 4-0 to accept the state money and to kick in $110,000 of county personnel time. The beach study resolution now goes to the Ways and Means Committee before the full Legislature votes. If approved, a study could begin this summer and be done by winter. said county Environment Director Travis Glazier.

The study, to be done by a consultant after bids are received, will examine the best place to build a beach and include design and construction plans.

After the study is done, the Legislature would decide whether to build a beach and for how much.
