Welcome to Corn on the Cob Day!
There are six different kinds of maize, or corn, and one of them is sweet corn, the kind that is most often celebrated on Corn on the Cob Day. Corn was first domesticated by Indigenous peoples in southern Mexico thousands of years ago, and more corn is now produced around the world than wheat or rice, although not all of it is used for human consumption. Sweet corn is picked when the kernels are still soft, and it is cooked in many different ways. Most commonly it is boiled or steamed on a stove, roasted or grilled on a grill or in an oven, or microwaved. Many times skewers are put on both ends of the cob after the husk is removed so it can can more easily be held, and butter, salt, and pepper are common seasonings used on the corn. It can be a pretty healthy snack if it is not overloaded with butter and salt, as an ear of corn usually isn’t much more than 100 calories, and is high in fiber.

With the return of Syracuse basketball star Tyus Battle, expectations are high for next season. Here’s what records Battle can smash in his Junior campaign.
Now that we know Tyus Battle has returned to the 2018-19 Syracuse basketball squad, the hype is starting to get real. We’ve already seen a variety of experts launch the Orange into the preseason top-25.
So with expectations so high for this program, what are expectations are realistic? We’ve heard National Championship banter, one of the top programs in ACC, and even a ‘Final Four’ run thrown around once or twice.
But we don’t want to extend ourselves out that far, how about something more simple? Tyus Battle. What records can he break this season? It’s a bit unusual to have your team’s brightest star stay for more than one season, let alone three.
SU fans should be more than grateful for everything Battle has already done for this program. But next year could be his best yet. We’ve broken down the top five records Battle can break next season.

Former Syracuse basketball player Rakeem Christmas engaged to Michael Jordan's daughter (PS; Waters)
It may not be the same as Prince Harry marrying Meghan Markle, but Rakeem Christmas is about to marry into NBA royalty.
Christmas, the former Syracuse University basketball player, is now engaged to Jasmine Jordan, the daughter of NBA legend Michael Jordan.
Jasmine Jordan announced the couple's engagement on her Twitter page on Sunday.

Like Christmas, Jasmine Jordan also attended Syracuse University. She graduated with a degree in sports management.
Christmas was a starter on the Syracuse team that advanced to the 2013 Final Four. As a senior in 2015, he led the Orange in scoring (17.5 point per game) and rebounding (9.1 per game).
Christmas has played in the NBA for the Indiana Pacers, who selected him in the second round of the 2015 draft. He has also played in the NBA's D-League and for pro teams in both Turkey and New Zealand.
What Tyus Battle's return means for the Syarcuse Orange | isportsweb (isportsweb.com; Godnick)
The Syracuse Orange had been waiting for some positive news this off season, and they finally got some in the most impactful way possible: the return of Tyus Battle. The Orange’s leading scorer from last year first declared for the draft, but decided to return for his junior year, giving Syracuse one of the most talented teams heading into next year.
The Orange were already returning the bulk of their impact players, but now that Battle is back in the picture, the Orange have a legitimate chance at making a deep run in the postseason next year.
Not as much pressure for Oshae Brissett
If Battle had stayed in the NBA Draft, rising sophomore Oshae Brissett would’ve had to carry the bulk of the offensive production. Brissett showed he has what he takes to score the ball with his versatile skillset, but it may have been too much to ask him to score 20-plus every night.
Now that Battle and Brissett have another year to play together, the two perimeter players have what it takes to become one of the nation’s most dynamic scoring duos. Both players can play off of each other, so Brissett should be more than excited that he has Battle lining up next to him next year.

New Britain Herald - UConn men's basketball will play Syracuse at MSG this season (newbritianherald.com; Ostrout)
It’s not like the old Big East days, but it’s not too different.
The UConn men’s basketball team will play Syracuse Nov. 15 as part of the 2K Sports Classic, the fourth season in a row in which the teams will meet.
The field for the 2K Sports Classic’s four games in New York was previously revealed to include UConn, Syracuse, Iowa and Oregon. Fan Rag Sports reported Friday the matchups had been set, and as expected the Huskies and Orange were paired together.
There will be on-campus games associated with the event, though the “semifinalists” have been picked. There will be two games Nov. 15 in New York, while the winners and losers from those will face off the following day at MSG.
Syracuse leads the all-time series with UConn 56-38 and won the most recent meeting, a 72-63 matchup Dec. 5, 2017 that was also played at Madison Square Garden.
This pair of games in New York is part of at least four UConn will play in the metropolitan area next season. The Huskies also have a Dec. 8 meeting with Florida State in Newark, N.J., and one Dec. 22 with Villanova at MSG.
2018 Orlando Magic NBA Draft Preview: Jerome Robinson, a quiet assassin in the ACC (orlandomagicdaily.com.; Scricca)
Jerome Robinson is coming off one of the most prolific scoring seasons in recent ACC basketball history. His versatile jump shot and ball handling make him an interesting prospect.
The Boston College Eagles had one of college basketball’s most explosive backcourts last season with Ky Bowman running the point and Jerome Robinson at the 2-guard slot. With Bowman electing to exit the NBA Draft and return to school, only Robinson will be an option for NBA teams this year.
Although Bowman is the more capable lead guard from a passing vision standpoint, neither player is an adept enough decision-maker to warrant using a high pick on them as point guard prospects.
Robinson is about four inches taller than Bowman at 6-foot-5, and thus projects more comfortably as an NBA wing. He will be a more capable defender at his position, making him arguably the better overall prospect considering their similarly high-level scoring acumen.
Of course Bowman will have another year at school to increase his NBA lead guard stock, so that is neither here nor there.
This article is about Robinson — an athletic 20 points-per-game scorer who can shoot the lights out from anywhere on the court. It is easy to see the appeal especially for an Orlando Magic team in dire need of shooting and shot creation.

Manning, Wake Forest Pick Up A Transfer (dukebasketballreport.com; King)
Wake Forest picked up a potentially useful transfer in Charlotte point guard Andrien White.
White, a 6-3 junior, pulled starter minutes for three seasons. Last season he averaged 15 ppg, 4.8 rpg and 1.2 apg. He didn't shoot all that well other than at the foul line but he’s mature and he could help the Deacs.
Not this coming year though. He’ll sit out as a transfer under current NCAA rules.

Vitali Klitschko had a difficult time grasping the moment.
"It's not reality. It's dream," Klitschko said Sunday during his induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. "I never expected I will be in (the Hall of Fame). I didn't expect one day I become world champion in the United States. I'm very proud to be together with boxing legends. It's a dream to be in with Muhammad Ali."
Klitschko was elected to the Hall of Fame in December, three years after he decided to re-enter politics in his native Ukraine. Also inducted Sunday were four-division world champion Erik Morales and light middleweight champion Ronald "Winky" Wright, while Sid Terris was honored posthumously in the old-timer category.
Honored in the observer category were broadcasters Steve Albert and Jim Gray, while German promoter Klaus-Peter Kohl was honored in the non-participant category. Ring announcer Johnny Addie and promoter Lorraine Chargin were honored posthumously in the non-participant category.
