Welcome to Orange Chicken Day!
National Orange Chicken Day is observed on July 15 of every year. It is a day to celebrate Orange Chicken. This yummy Chicken with reminiscent flavors of orange is a treat to your tummy. It is made adding the flavor of orange zest to the chicken. This recipe is a definite winner and is similar to the crisp fried chicken. It’s not just the Asians, it’s very common in North America, and everybody loves it.

Which Syracuse players had the best combined college and NBA careers? (Mike’s Mailbox) (PS; $; Waters)
Who are the greatest Syracuse players when taking into consideration both their college and pro careers?
It’s an outstanding question. I had never thought of the greatest Syracuse players in that way before.
The combination of college and NBA eliminates a few Syracuse legends from the discussion and, interestingly, adds a few more to the debate.
We’ve got that plus a lot more in this week’s Mike’s Mailbox.
Q: Considering their whole career, including the NBA, who are the five greatest basketball players to play at Syracuse? Carmelo Anthony, Dave Bing and Derrick Coleman are probably no-brainers. Who would be the last two?
Stephen P.
Mike: I love the questions that are perfect fodder for a debate, and this is a really good one.
I would have to agree with Stephen that if you are taking a player’s entire career into account, then Dave Bing, Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Coleman are no-brainers. All three were absolutely terrific in college and in the NBA.
It gets a lot tougher to fill in the next two spots.
I narrowed it down to these three guys: Rony Seikaly, Danny Schayes and Billy Owens.

Buddy and Jimmy Boeheim will play for USA East Coast in Spain (PS; $; Waters)
Buddy and Jimmy Boeheim will team up for USA East Coast Basketball on a 3-game tour of Spain this August.
USA East Coast annually sends a team of current college players to play a series of games against international teams in Europe.
Guy Rancourt, USA East Coast’s director and the head coach at Western Connecticut State, confirmed on Wednesday that Syracuse’s brother combination would be part of the program’s 2021 European tour.
This year, though, Rancourt is putting together three teams ― Red, White and Blue.
Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim will be the head coach of the White team. Adrian Autry, SU’s associate head coach, will be Boeheim’s assistant on the team. Autry was USA East Coast’s head coach in 2019 when the team traveled to Greece.

Gone are talented players like Quincy Guerrier, Marek Dolezaj and Kadary Richmond but entering the fold are Cole Swider, Jimmy Boeheim, Symir Torrence and 5-star recruit Benny Williams.
It will be a lot different, but one thing won't change:
Syracuse will be a contender and tested early.
Let's take a look at some of the non-conference games that jump out at us.

Syracuse Basketball: Interest in talented 2022 big man with soaring stock (itlh; Adler)
Syracuse basketball continues to look for a big man for its 2022 class, whether it’s a power forward or a center. The Orange recently missed out on four-star center Donovan Clingan, who selected Connecticut over the ‘Cuse and several other finalists.
Four-star power forward Kyle Filipowski remains in the mix for Syracuse basketball, although competition is intense for him, and fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squad Duke is picking up analyst predictions for Filipowski.
We’ve written a couple of columns lately about the Orange reportedly showing interest in other 2022 big men, such as power forward/center Christ Essandoko and center Duke Brennan.
According to at least one media report, we can add another name to this category of potential ‘Cuse prospects, and it’s the talented and under-rated Peter Carey.
The 7-foot power forward/center is a junior at the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Mount Hermon, Mass. On the AAU circuit, he runs with the New York Lightning Select, a team that is based in West Hempstead, N.Y.

Familiar foes: Colgate men's basketball set to play Syracuse again (uticaod.com; Birnell)
Two Central New York men's college basketball teams are set to meet again on the court.
The Syracuse Orange announced Wednesday it will play Colgate University — its most familiar opponent — for the 173rd time in November.
The NCAA Division I basketball teams are set to clash Saturday, Nov. 20, when Colgate travels from Hamilton to the Carrier Dome, according to a release from Syracuse University.
Syracuse and Colgate had their first meeting in 1902 and have played 172 times since then, though the Orange has had quite an advantage. Syracuse has a 127-45 lead in the series with the Orange winning the last 54 games between the schools.
The rivals — located about 40 miles apart — had played in 27 consecutive seasons before the streak ended this past year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

...Jumpman Invitational Will Feature UNC, Jordan Brand In New College Hoops Tourney
A new holiday college basketball tournament is coming to Charlotte: the Jumpman Invitational. The Charlotte Sports Foundation announced Thursday that the inaugural gathering is scheduled for Dec. 20-21, 2022 and features men's and women's teams from the original four schools to sign partnerships with Jordan Brand in basketball and football — Florida, Michigan, North Carolina and Oklahoma.
The games will be played at the Spectrum Center, the home of Michael Jordan's NBA team, the Charlotte Hornets. Two games will be played each night of the tournament, with ESPN networks airing all games...
The event is slated to be played through 2024, with the possibility to expand it to include other Jordan-affiliated schools.

Buddy Boeheim, Joe Girard on new NIL era: Time commitment, brokering deals, locker room reaction (PS; $; Ditota)
For Buddy Boeheim and Joe Girard, the offers surfaced soon after the stroke of midnight on July 1.
On that day, the changing clock signaled the start of a momentous new era in college sports. College athletes could begin to earn money off their names, images and likenesses (NIL). After several tumultuous months, a couple tempestuous weeks and a few chaotic days, the NCAA – under pressure from states that passed laws to enact NIL on July 1 – permitted its athletes to do what was previously forbidden in college sports.
Those athletes could now monetize their sports fame without jeopardizing their college playing eligibility.
Girard, the Syracuse point guard, checked his direct messages shortly after midnight and saw potential fruits from a new source of labor. By noon, about 10 entities had reached out to him, though many of those, he said, were opportunistic entrepreneurs offering their marketing services to help him navigate his brave new world.
Boeheim experienced a similarly frenzied opening day.

Duke Recruiting: Kyle Filipowski Update (DBR; King)
We first became aware of Kyle Filipowski through a Syracuse site and then of course Duke got interested.
We should reiterate that this is a weird recruiting cycle and that a whole year of analysis and scouting was basically missed. So it’s entirely possible, and probably likely, that Filipowski would have been on Duke’s radar sooner than he was had it not been for Covid.
Whatever - he definitely is now and while this Syracuse site, TheLoudHouse.com, isn’t tossing in the towel, they seem close to resigned to Duke getting him instead of the ‘Cuse.
Of course that doesn’t mean much and the Crystal Ball trending Duke’s way is essentially sentiment and gossip, even if some of it is based on insider knowledge. The truth is, kids today have gotten a lot more careful about broadcasting their intentions and even if they weren’t, things can change suddenly and dramatically.
So we don’t know how much stock to put into this. We just know it’s kind of cool to see other fan bases think they’re losing ground to the Blue Devils. Take it for what it’s worth.
