Ryan Beaury is Siena’s director of basketball operations and shares an office with Brian, the special assistant to McNamara. When McNamara was hired in March, Ryan Beaury wanted to move closer to home and advance his career after spending seven years with Syracuse — four as a manager, two as a graduate assistant and last year as video coordinator. Meanwhile, Brian Beaury was unemployed and looking for work after the College of Saint Rose announced its closure this year. “I enjoy working with (Ryan) a great deal,” Brian said. “He’s an extremely talented, hard-working young man. The staff, myself included, relies on him for a lot of things, as do the players and the administrators. The latest addition means the Syracuse charity can offer more free, temporary living spaces to families whose children are receiving medical treatment at Syracuse-area hospitals. Four one-bedroom suites and two two-bedroom suites with space for additional guests were added to the top floor of the house on East Genesee Street. Now, the house can accommodate 33 families at once. “Our previous home was two old homes joined together,” said Beth Trunfio, executive director of the charity. “So when we built this house we built it with an unfinished fourth floor in anticipation that at some point in time there would be a need to grow.” The expansion will provide space for multigenerational families with unique needs, providing space for parents who work remotely or extra space for children who are immunocompromised. “We’ve always strived to keep families together,” she said. “Having more space to be able to live comfortably as though they’re in their own home was really an important opportunity for us.” The project cost $1.1 million, including $200,000 from in-kind donations from vendors for furniture, televisions, artwork and electrical work, Trunfio said. Private bathrooms, handicap accessibility, guest rooms and laundry facilities are available for guests during their stay.
