JB's USA Basketball Involvement Rejuvenates, Educates, Amazes Long Time Syracuse Coach (PS; Ditota)
He will begin his 38th season as Syracuse University's head basketball coach this fall. His resume includes 948 career victories, one national title and four trips to the Final Four. Just one of his college coaching contemporaries has won more games.
He is considered the architect and chief cheerleader of a zone defense that others emulate, a Hall-of-Famer whose decades-long involvement with USA Basketball elevates his status as one of the game's influential coaches.
But here, as the United States men's basketball national team prepares for the FIBA World Cup in Spain, Jim Boeheim is content to cede ultimate power and control to Mike Krzyzewski. As an assistant coach of the USA team, Boeheim occupies an unfamiliar seat on the bench.
"It's good. It's a change of pace, a little bit easier," Boeheim said. "It's fun to do and it's fun to work with great players."

The Great NYS Fair Starts Today: Parking, Fairground and Concert Seating Maps (PS; Hull)
Story of the Festival That Saved the New York State Fair (cnycentral.com; Benny)
Picture it: Central New York, 1903. The State Fair is suffering in every way possible. Attendance is down. Exhibitors have lost interest. The Fair is bleeding money and New York State is considering giving one of the many other cities who want a shot at hosting it a chance to do just that. Syracuse stood to lose The Fair for good. The story of how Central New York saved The Fair, and preserved itself as permanent host begins with the Ka-Noo-No Karnival.
"Like so much of our history over the years, this is just one of those stories that somehow got lost," said Greg Tripoli, the Executive Director of the Onondaga Historical Association. "It was the days of the horse and buggy, and The Fair was mostly a daytime event. It was a long haul for people to come here, and The Fair hadn't gotten very good at nighttime entertainment, so there was no reason to stay the night and attend The Fair for a second day," Tripoli said.

Court Blocks SU From Firing Bookstore Builder (PS; Moriarty)
A judge has blocked Syracuse University from firing the builder of the university's new bookstore.
State Supreme Court Judge Donald Greenwood granted Cameron Hill Construction LLC a preliminary injunction Tuesday prohibiting the university from terminating its development agreement with the company to build a $20 million, 85,000-square-foot building to house the bookstore, a university fitness center and retail space.
The injunction keeps the university from taking any action to enforce the termination of its contract with Cameron while the court considers the company's lawsuit against SU. The injunction also bars the university from drawing upon a $250,000 bank letter of credit, which was provided by Cameron for use in the event it defaulted on its obligations.
