76ers to Play Knicks in Dome Tonight, MCW Definitely Out, Jerami Grant Probably Out (PS; Waters)

When the NBA's schedule first came out, Jerami Grant paid little attention to the Philadelphia 76ers' exhibition game with the New York Knicks on Oct. 14.

The game was part of the NBA's preseason schedule. Grant had his eyes focused on the regular season and the Sixers' opener on Oct. 29 at Indiana.

"But then a lot of people started calling me,'' Grant said.

What Grant had missed, but his friends hadn't, was that the Oct. 14 game between the Sixers and the Knicks would be played at the Carrier Dome. Grant, the former Syracuse University forward, would be making his return to Syracuse less than six months after leaving to enter the 2014 NBA draft.

Ranting and Raving with Lewis Black: 7 Questions With America's Angriest Comedian (PS; Baker)

Lewis Black is so angry it's funny.

The standup comic has carved out a niche as America's angriest comedian -- a George Carlin for the 21st century. He rants and raves onstage "like a lunatic" (his words) and has an unmistakably erratic delivery. And his madman act has made him one of America's most popular comedians.

Black performs at the Crouse Hinds Theater at the Oncenter on Friday, Oct. 17.

In conversation, most of Black's sentences sound deserving of an exclamation point. But Black doesn't yell or fly off the handle. Rather he speaks fast and frantic, as if he's exasperated -- the last sane person in a world full of lunatics.

Black earned notoriety in the early years of Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show" regime with his recurring segment, "Back in Black." In it, Black rants at the camera about a given subject, anything from Glenn Beck to artisan foods. Black once spent five minutes likening Donald Trump to insane totalitarian despots.
