Kaleb Joseph Nets 9 2nd Half Points, Looks to Carry Aggression into Regular Season (PS; D'Abbraccio)
After Michael Gbinije missed a 3 from the left wing, Kaleb Joseph pounced on the long rebound and calmly drained an open jumper from the high post.
It was one of the few times Joseph sought to score, and it’s what SU head coach Jim Boeheim wants to see more of from the freshman point guard.
Joseph tallied nine points, all in the second half, to go with six assists in Syracuse’s 84-35 beating of Adrian on Monday night in the Carrier Dome, and the only criticism Joseph drew from Boeheim was that he didn’t look to score enough.
“I thought Kaleb, he’s got to be a little more aggressive,” Boeheim said. “He’s got to look to score when the opportunities are there and I think he will. But he’s playing very solid and I think he’ll find his opportunities there. In the second half, he found a couple opportunities and made them but he’s had a couple good exhibition games.”

Orange Stifle Adrian 84-35 in Exhibition Finale (TNIAAM; Smith)
Despite some very erratic first-half shooting Monday night the Syracuse Orange men's basketball team overpowered Adrian College, 84-35, at the Carrier Dome in front of a crowd of just over 7,000. The contest was the Orange's final warm up before this Friday's regular-season opener against visiting Kennesaw State (7 p.m.).
The Orange led, 37-24, at halftime after shooting just 29 percent from the floor. SU ran away with the victory by clamping down on defense. For nearly 15 minutes, from the end of the first half and until nearly nine minutes remaining in the game, the Bulldogs failed to score a point, while the Orange used a 23-0 run to put the game completely out of reach.
Chris McCullough combined for a game-best 13 points and 16 rebounds. Rakeem Christmas tallied the Orange's second most points with 12 and also added five rebounds and five blocks. Michael Gbinije, Trevor Cooney and Ron Patterson each reached double digits in scoring netting 10 points.

Syracuse Crunch's Ice Age Starts Rolling Into the Carrier Dome Early Tuesday Morning (video; PS; Kramer)
Carrier Dome managing director Pete Sala was the picture of calm as worker bees bustled around him on Monday morning.
His facility had just finished a makeover from high school football Sunday into a basketball setup for tonight's Syracuse University-Adrian College contest.
Sala of course, was already looking ahead. He always does that, as he must.
And a few hours after tonight's game ends, likely sometime after midnight, the first small strides of hockey history will begin to creep into his building.
That's when the Syracuse Crunch will start storing rink-building supplies on the turf half of the Dome. The construction itself will begin in the early morning hours of Nov. 17, with completion date targeted in time for a Crunch practice Nov. 20. The Crunch's Frozen Dome Classic against the Utica Comets is 7 p.m. on Nov. 22.
