CHICKEN WING HISTORY
Buffalo, New York lays claim to the birthplace of the chicken wing and that’s why they are often called Buffalo wings as well. The story goes that Teressa Bellissimo created chicken wings at the Anchor Bar, which she owned with her husband Frank, when her son Dominic and some of his college friends decided they wanted a late night bite to eat. She wanted a fast and easy dish so she deep-fried some chicken wings, which in 1964 were usually reserved for soup stock. She tossed them in butter and hot sauce. Naturally, they were an instant hit. The Bellissimos weren’t the first Buffalo restaurateurs to realize the potential of chicken wings. John Young had opened Wings’n Things on Jefferson Avenue in 1963. But his wings were breaded and dressed in a tomato-based sauce.
The Anchor Bar’s chicken wing recipe turned out to be irresistible to customers and competitors. Other restaurants in town started catching on. Duff’s, in Amherst, started selling them in 1969. A few years later, the City of Buffalo declared July 29 Chicken Wing Day and in its proclamation proudly noted that “thousands of pounds of chicken wings are consumed by Buffalonians in restaurants and taverns throughout the city each week.”

Tyler Lydon Likes Pepperoni, Popcorn and (sigh...) Chipotle (TNIAAM; Szuba)
The voice of the Syracuse Orange caught up with incoming freshman Tyler Lydon, who revealed some of his favorite foods.
Rising Syracuse Orange freshman Tyler Lydon has been on Syracuse's campus since the first summer session, where he's been working out regularly with Ryan Cabiles. Cabiles, the best strength and conditioning coach in the nation, has been helping Lydon prepare for the long college basketball season ahead by getting him into better shape and adding some weight to his frame.
Syracuse is currently in its second summer session where Lydon is undertaking his second course as a Syracuse undergraduate. Laborious on and off the court, Lydon was able to work an A in his first class.
Since arriving on campus, Lydon has played pick up games with former Syracuse Orange players, who have really taken a liking to his game. Lydon, who will donBrandon Triche's old number this season, was able to impress with his length, athleticism and shooting ability. With all of his attributes, it's hard not to see potential in a guy like Lydon.

Christmas has learned that even before stepping on an NBA playing court. He was drafted by Minnesota with the 36th pick this year, but traded to Cleveland later that evening. He averaged eight points and 4.5 rebounds for the Cavs' Summer League team, but then was traded to the Pacers for the 2019 second-round pick obtained from the Lakers as part of the deal for Roy Hibbert.
"The first game was a little shaky, but once I got used to it I got better and better," he said.
Christmas was part of the first pre-draft workout conducted by the Pacers, which also included Young and first-round picks Cameron Payne and Jerian Grant. At 6-9, he is regarded as a mobile forward and a solid mid-range shooter. He wasn't a focal part of the offense at Syracuse until his senior season, when he averaged 17.5 points on 55 percent shooting, along with 9.1 rebounds. He received his degree after three years.
He arrives in the NBA at age 23, with a four-year deal that is fully guaranteed for two according to published reports. He's already wise to the ways of the league, having already been traded twice.
"I wasn't disappointed at all," he said. "There's a lot of opportunity here. It's a place I can grow.
"I'm just happy to have a place to call home."
He's also prepared for all the holiday jokes inspired by his last name. He said he used to get annoyed by them, but now he rolls with them. It's never bad to be noticed in the NBA, after all.
For that reason, he'll wear No. 25 with the Pacers.

Michigan basketball has had success finding under-the-radar talent from both Pickerington (Ohio) Central High School and the All-Ohio Red AAU team.
Recent All-American point guard Trey Burke played for All-Ohio Red, while current All-American candidate Caris LeVert attended Pickerington Central.
Now coach John Beilein has reached back to both.
Ibi Watson, a rising senior from Pickerington Central who burst onto the national recruiting scene this summer as a member of All-Ohio Red, has committed to Michigan, giving the Wolverines their third commitment in the 2016 class.
The 6-foot-6, 185-pound guard fills the void left behind by the decommitment of Tyus Battle, who has since pledged his services to Syracuse.
Watson tweeted the announcement on Tuesday afternoon.
