SU Basketball Draftees in 2015 (insidetheloudhouse.com; White)

During the 2015 NBA Draft, Syracuse basketball had two players picked within the first 40 draftees. These two players were senior Rakeem Christmas and freshman Chris McCullough. Boeheim had Christmas on staff for four years, during with he completed an undergraduate and graduate degree. McCullough left after a freshman campaign that was cut short due to injury, becoming another Orange that was one-and-done.

Christmas who played in 142 games for the Orange over his four years on campus, had a break out season his senior year. He was the ACC’s Most Improved Player, Part of the All-ACC Team, the ACC’s All-Defensive Team, and was named a second team All-American. Through his career Christmas averaged 7.5 points per game and in his senior season averaged 17.5 per game. Other averages included 5.8 rebounds per game over his career and 1.7 blocks. You can see his career statistics here.

The center who is 6’9″ was originally picked by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round 36th overall. Christmas was traded during draft-night to the Cleveland Cavaliers and had participated in the Cavaliers summer league. Looking down the road though with the re-signing of Kevin Love and the almost guaranteed signing of Tristan Thompson, it seemed that there was no room for Christmas on the roster.

Mark Coyle Hires Third Deputy Athletic Director, Indicates He Will Retain Herman Frazier (PS; Carlson)

Syracuse athletic director Mark Coyle announced the hiring of Boise State's John Cunningham as his third deputy athletic director and, in the press release, indicated that SU would retain deputy athletic director Herm Frazier.

Frazier will be the highest-ranking holdover from the Daryl Gross era on Coyle's senior staff and is now one of three deputy athletic directors in an expanded administrative staff.

While Frazier was present at the athletic department meeting that spawned NCAA sanctions and Fab Melo's academic improprieties, he was the administrative official referenced the least in the NCAA's report on SU.

Frazier, who has previous experience as an athletic director, has supervised the football program and played a role in creating the Syracuse's football schedule, a thorny issue as the program has attempted to rebuild its reputation from the rubble of the Greg Robinson era. The press release does not indicate if his responsibilities will remain the same.

Syracuse football coach Scott Shafer and Coyle have both indicated they believe inright-sizing the schedule for the program as it climbs, especially now that it plays annually in the ACC.

It's a process that may already be underway. Unlike many recent seasons, Syracuse plays just one power-five school during its non-conference schedule this year.

Cunningham, meanwhile, marks the second Boise State employee among Coyle's first four announced hires and is his second hire with significant NCAA compliance experience.

Cunningham has been labeled the deputy athletic director for administration. Kimberly Keenan-Kirkpatrick is the deputy athletic director and senior woman administrator. Frazier is the deputy athletic director and chief of staff.

Pink Burger Buns? KFC China Introduces New Rose-Flavored Menu Item (PS; Healy)

Yum or yuck? KFC China recently introduced its newest menu item, a Rose Cheese Roasted Chicken Burger — with petal-pink burger buns.

While it may seem like an ordinary sandwich, one look at the burger buns will have customers thinking otherwise. The Nanfang reports that this burger was released in conjunction with the "Black diamond bacon spicy chicken leg burger."

There are rumors that the new burger buns, which are promoted on KFC China's website, may be connected to a popular Japanese anime television show that uses pink and black as the main colors, Mashable says.

"One media outlet is speculating that KFC is shrewdly borrowing some of the spotlight of 'Puella Magi Madoka Magica,' a Japanese anime that is popularly received in China," The Nanfang adds.

KFC is jumping on the black burger trend, as Burger King Japan released a black burger with a black bun and sauce. The sauce was infused with squid ink, and the black cheese and buns were colored with bamboo charcoal.

The pink and black burgers are for sale in KFC locations in China for $2.80.
