I think that our defensive minded head coach often made choices with the best interests of his defense in mind, as opposed to his offense. So yes, there are times when I think they aren't trying to score.

Holiday would be my pick as well he would use us to springboard to an SEC job. He can recruit Florida. Dana Holgroson thankfully turned around WVU or he could have been an easy replacement at WVU. Holiday for 2.5 mill per year and his staff for another 1.5 mill and within 3 years we would be good I believe.

The fact is every year Scott Shafer remains head coach after this year sets back the rebuild 2 years. Sadly Shafer is obviously being kept but next year he needs a bowl game and if he manages to go 6-6 it won't do much for the program.

Shafer is not a bad man he is just in over his head as a P5 team head coach.

I can get on board with Holliday also. Say what you will about Urban Meyer but I don't think he hires idiots to be his recruiting coordinator. That's some good Florida ties. It seems like most of the rest of Marshall's players are from W VA, Va, OH, MD and the southeast (FL, GA). So ideally, I would prefer he have an assistant like Acosta who has northeast recruiting ties. But I think Holliday would be a really good head coach choice if the time came.
