Welcome to International Fairy Day!

It’s International Fairy Day! Today is a day for fairy believers young and old to celebrate the stories, magic, and history of the Fair Folk. For centuries, fairies have been an important part of Celtic culture. In all of the ancient legends, these mythological creatures are described as intelligent, mischievous, and magical. They have the ability to fly and cast spells, and they live in “Tír na nóg,” the land of eternal youth. Some say that humans don’t often see fairies because of the division between the two worlds, but sightings can occur at twilight or during Beltane, Mid-Summer’s Eve, or All Hallow’s Eve.

Syracuse Football 2016 Position Preview: Quarterbacks (TNIAAM; Cassillo)

This is where it all starts for Dino Babers's offense.

For months now, we've been previewing the Syracuse Orange football season like it's just around the corner. Well... now it sort of is. As we've done in years' past, we'll preview a different SU position group each week. Last week was thecoaching staff. This week:

Quarterbacks
While the group certainly has experience -- three have started a collegiate game before -- Syracuse's quarterbacks do lack significant depth. Just three are on scholarship, while another two are walk-ons. We had a similar issue last year (and the year before), and SU ended up having to dip pretty far down the depth chart. Hopefully history doesn't repeat itself a third time for the Orange.

Eric Dungey, Sophomore

Thrown into action in week one last year, Dungey performed better than most would assume of a true freshman. He wasn't perfect, but provided a spark at the QB position that's been noticeably absent since the departure of Ryan Nassib after 2012. While his 1,600-plus total yards and 16 TDs were steps in the right direction, his penchant for running (and the staff's failure to protect him) put him at risk. Dungey missed four games with a head injury, and has seemingly been working on his strength all offseason. Dino Babers's offense will also have him making quicker decisions and running less -- which should decrease the hits on the presumed starter in year two. Conceivably, this offense will go as far as Dungey will take it.

Ex-SU kicker Josh Altman gets restraining order after death threats (reports) (PS; Herbert)

Former Syracuse football player Josh Altman and his brother Matt got a restraining order against a California dermatologist who allegedly made death threats.

The New York Daily News reports Matt Altman, who co-stars on Bravo's "Million Dollar Listings: Los Angeles" with Josh, filed the order against Dr. Alex Khadavi of the Encino and Thousand Dermatology and Laser Center. Khadavi is accused of making racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic comments to Matt, who is Jewish, after years of "bullying" on the phone.

According to TMZ, things escalated when Khadavi allegedly told him he "hated all jews" in person at a party, adding that he wanted to kill the reality TV star and realtor.

The skin doctor was ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Josh and Matt Altman, plus Matt's girlfriend, Johanna Sicat, and Josh's wife, Heather Bilyeau.

Josh Altman, 37, was a backup kicker at Syracuse University in the late '90s, including on Donovan McNabb's team in the 1999 Orange Bowl. He and his brother have appeared on "Million Dollar Listing," a series about real estate agents selling high-end homes, since 2011.

Why Wegmans changed its icing, and what this means for your sweettooth (PS; Weaver)

Wegmans has changed its icing.

To some, this might be trivial. But to many people living in Upstate, N.Y., cake and cupcake frosting atop a baked good from Wegmans is a regular part of summer. (Sorry, again, Albany.)

For many of us, it's hard to make it through Labor Day weekend without eating a piece of high school graduation cake, a wedding-shower cupcake or a Fourth-of-July American-star icing rose -- all bought at Wegmans.

Do not panic. This change is not about sweetness or sweeteners, the people at Wegmans say. "Sugar is still the first ingredient," spokeswoman Evelyn Carter said.

This is about color -- specifically using more natural ingredients like beets and tomatoes to get vibrant colors onto celebratory treats.
