Welcome to National All or Nothing Day! (AW, Are You Listening?)

It’s time to quit testing the waters and playing the “what if” game. July 26th is National All or Nothing Day! Whether it’s a job commitment, overcoming a fear, or even a relationship, now is the time to fully commit. Force yourself to make a decision – all or nothing. In the end, you’ll feel better that you no longer have those questions lingering on your mind. Now or never. We’re all-in, are you?

Dr. Phillips LB/DE Nick Smith commits to NC State (orlandosentinel.com; Hays)

Orlando Dr. Phillips linebacker/defensive end Nick Smith committed to NC State's 2017 football recruiting class this past weekend.

Smith, a two-sport star at Dr. Phillips who also plays basketball, committed to the Wolfpack over North Carolina, a school which at one point was thought to be his leader.

He has 23 Football Bowl Subdivision scholarship offers, including his final eight teams which were: NC State, North Carolina, Maryland, Louisville, Nebraska, Syracuse, Rutgers and Arizona.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Smith plays mostly defensive end for Dr. Phillips. Last season he had 91 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, six sacks and an interception.

Smith is the No. 8 player in the Sentinel's 2017 Central Florida Super60.

Syracuse football preseason player file No. 7: Brisly Estime (DO; Mettus)

Brisly Estime

Position: Wide receiver
Year: Senior
Ht: 5-9
Wt: 182

Why he’s key for SU: Brisly Estime is one of Syracuse’s biggest potential playmakers on the offensive side of the ball and on special teams. He’s the only returning SU player to receive All-ACC honors, even if it was just an honorable mention, and boasts a wealth of agility and speed.

Estime made a name for himself in the punt return game last year, averaging 18.1 yards per return, which was second in the country and first in the Atlantic Coast Conference. He was the first SU player since 1997 to return two punts for touchdowns in a season. He’ll keep that role this season.

He was the Orange’s second leading receiver with 293 yards — significantly less than Steve Ishmael’s 570 yards — and only had two touchdowns. One of his catches was an 89-yard score from quarterback Eric Dungey. It was the third longest pass play in program history.

Syracuse football preseason storylines, No. 6: How will SU's secondary adjust to the Tampa 2 (DO; Libonati)

When Dino Babers was hired by Syracuse in December, his most-discussed system was the spread offense SU will use.

But the system that may be the most important is the Tampa 2. It’s a change from last season, and SU’s defensive backs will likely face the biggest challenge in the strategical flip. With the defensive line expected to take a step back from last season, SU’s linebackers and defensive backs will be crucial to the defense having success in 2016.

“I was like ‘Damn, I have to start over again,’” cornerback Corey Winfield said of the defensive switch during spring practice. “But once we got into it and start practicing it just got easier so. It got easier by the day.”

Wednesday's Powerball jackpot climbs to $422 million (PS; Moses)

The jackpot for Wednesday's Powerball drawing is $422 million, an increase of more than $30 million from Saturday.

The increase is due to brisk sales across all 44 participating Powerball states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Saturday's Powerball jackpot was $391.1 million and produced over 112,000 winning tickets in the state including a $50,000 winning ticket sold in Niagara Falls.

If no one matches all five numbers plus the Powerball in Wednesday's drawing, the jackpot will continue to grow. Tickets for the next Powerball drawing can be purchased until 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Previously, the largest Powerball jackpot ever claimed in New York was by a group of 20 co-workers from a Costco store in Melville, who split the $201.9 million jackpot drawn on June 1, 2011.

The largest Powerball jackpot across all participating states to date was $1.58 billion, won in California, Florida and Tennessee earlier this year on Jan. 13.
