Book reading is a great hobby. It's an important one, too. Employers look for it on resumes. Reading is educational, informative, and relaxing. It makes us both smarter, and happier people.
Book Lovers Day is a great day to celebrate. Just grab an interesting book, find a quiet, cozy place, and crack open the cover. Celebrating Book Lovers Day in August is pleasurable on the deck, under a shady tree, poolside, or in a cozy hammock. If you fall asleep while reading, that's okay. It's all part of the relaxing benefits of being a book lover.

Former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison is famous for being a man of few words and letting his play on the field speak for itself.
When it came time for his big speech at the 2016 Pro Football Hall of Fame induction in Canton, Ohio, on Saturday, Harrison held to that script, but cited his first class at Syracuse University as foretelling that moment.
During his speech, Harrison mentioned his first class at Syracuse University and how a professor named Mrs. Johnson told him he'd have to overcome a fear of public speaking in order to earn a significant part of his grade.
"I had a teacher in Syracuse University," Harrison said. "My first class. It was called 'Speech 101.' On the first day she said to me that the class was going to be divided up into three parts. Fifty percent on attendance, 25 percent on exams and 25 percent presentation."

New York State Fair 2016: You won't believe how different it looks (PS; Coin)
Syracuse, N.Y. -- You're in for a whole bunch of surprises this year at the New York State Fair.
A $50 million makeover has transformed some of the main fair avenues and the midway. Gone is the grandstand, the race track and the tall wall that separated the track from the rest of the fair. Now there are vast open spaces, long sight lines, and, fair officials hope, fewer traffic snarls on crowded days.
The fair runs Aug. 25 to Sept. 5. The midway will be about three acres larger and will feature at least seven new rides. Many food vendors will be in new locations. (Food writer Don Cazentre will offer more details about that soon.) And some things never visible before are now, including the brick steps at the Dairy Products Building and the equine rotunda way out in the west corner of the fair.
