Welcome to National Caramel P0pcorn Day!

P0pcorn is made by boiling the water inside the corn kernel. As the liquid water becomes gaseous, it occupies much more volume and therefore causes incredible pressure in the kernel that causes it to explode into being inside-out.
Unpopped popcorn kernels are called “old maids.”
Americans consume 17 billion quarts of popped popcorn annually, or 54 quarts per man, woman and child.

The team's first opener at its new ballpark was 20 years ago, on April 3, 1997, and the team and stadium had different names, the SkyChiefs and P&C Stadium.

And the baseball gods gifted the city a perfect day to open its season and stadium. (At least at first pitch, there were showers before the game finished.)

Chiefs' historian Ron Gersbacher told the Post-Standard that day that it was only the second opening day in the past 20 years with sunny skies.
