Welcome to National Bologna Day!
National Bologna Day is dedicated to bologna, a smoked and seasoned sausage popular in sandwiches. Although it sometimes is informally spelled as baloney, it takes its name from Bologna, Italy, a city where mortadella, a pork sausage, originated. The bologna sausage derives from mortadella, and is usually made with pork or beef, but can also be made with meats such as chicken, turkey, venison, or with a combination of them, or with soy protein. Seasonings such as black pepper, coriander, celery seed, nutmeg, and allspice are added. Myrtle berries, which are an important flavoring in mortadella, are also used. In the United States, the sausage is finely ground so that fat pieces are not visible.

Even if you weren’t at the Carrier Dome on Oct. 13, you can feel as if you could’ve stormed the field after the Syracuse football team’s upset win against defending national championship Clemson.
That’s because throughout the game, cameras captured action in full 360-degrees for fans to see in a virtual reality experience that was later released. The footage places you inside the stadium, giving you the same vantage point that a fan seated in the first couple of rows might have.
Fans got a great view of Syracuse’s opening score, a 23-yard screen pass delivered to running back Dontae Strickland.

Syracuse Football: Gritty Orange fall at Miami, who played well? (itlh.com; Carey)
Here’s your weekly Syracuse football report card. The Orange may have lost to the Hurricanes, but they showed a ton of heart and have done that all season.
The Syracuse football team had yet another tough task this weekend when they went on the road to take on the No. 8 Miami Hurricanes. Coming off a roller-coaster of emotions this past week after their upset win against Clemson, there were questions about whether or not the Orange would be ready to play.
In the first half, it looked like Eric Dungey was still riding high off his performance against the Tigers. The Syracuse signal caller threw four interceptions in the first half. This really set the tone of the game as all day the Orange couldn’t get out of their own way. The Syracuse defense played extremely well minus the one long pass play in the third quarter that resulted in a touchdown. Once again the defensive line struggled to get much of a pass rush on Miami quarterback Malik Rosier.

What Did Miami Hurricanes Defensive Players Say After Syracuse (caneswarning.com; Rubenstein)
The Miami Hurricanes defense forced four first-half turnovers and made a key stop late in the fourth quarter in a 27-19 victory over Syracuse Saturday. The Hurricanes much-maligned secondary picked off Orange quarterback Eric Dungey four times in the opening 30 minutes.
Dungey was harassed all day by the Miami Hurricanes defense. The nation’s 13th leading passer finished 13-41 for 137 yards with the four interceptions. Dungey ranks fourth in the ACC averaging 277.1 yards per game.
Cornerback Michael Jackson continues to make big plays dating to last season. He had two of the four Miami Hurricanes interceptions. Jackson’s two ints give him three on the season. His 0.5 interceptions per game place him in a tie for 13th nationally. That puts him on pace for six this season including a bowl game.

The Miami Hurricanes received big games offensively from quarterback Malik Rosier, running back Travis Homer, wide receiver Ahmmon Richards and tight end Chris Herndon in a 27-19 victory over Syracuse.
The Miami Hurricanes passing game was aided by Richards and Herndon benefitting from a career high 344 yards from Rosier. Herndon set career highs with 10 receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown. Richards had a season-high six receptions and his 99 yards were just seven yards off his season high.
Travis Homer had another big game in his second straight start. The Sophomore running back had 99 yards on 20 carries. He added four receptions for 27 yards.
Homer, Richards and Herndon all spoke to the media following the Miami Hurricanes victory over Syracuse on Saturday.
ACC Blog (eson; Adelson)
For three weeks, Miami has shown us what it can be in fits and starts, and that is why it is so hard to evaluate these Hurricanes after six games.
Their record says they are 6-0. The polls say they are No. 8 in the nation. Their stat sheet says they have won 11 straight going back to last season. For a program that has struggled with consistency over a decade, these are notable achievements.
But after yet another game that came down to the waning minutes, the question observers are asking is not whether Miami is back. They are asking Miami is for real. With a road game at struggling North Carolina (1-7) on Saturday, we might not have an answer until the first two weekends in November.

Rapper Cardi B says she was kicked out of hotel in 'racist' Upstate NY city (PS; Herbert)
Hip-hop star Cardi B says she was kicked out of a hotel in a "racist" Upstate New York city after being falsely accused of smoking weed.
The "Bodak Yellow" rapper said in an Instagram video that she and her entourage were forced to leave the Hilton Albany early Sunday morning after guests complained about the smell of marijuana. Cardi B had performed at the Times Union Center Saturday night.
"The floor that I was staying in in my hotel room, it smelled like weed. So the cops came in the middle of the night, knocking on my manager and on my door, talking about that we were smoking weed and we gotta get kicked out," Cardi B said.
