Welcome to Blackout Wednesday!

Blackout Wednesday, sometimes referred to as Drinksgiving, takes place the night before Thanksgiving Day, and in some parts of the United States is one of the biggest drinking and party nights of the year. Many college students come back to their hometown for Thanksgiving, and go to bars the night before to meet their friends whom they haven't seen while away at school. Many bars mark the occasion by having promotions and drink specials as well. Thanksgiving is usually a low stress holiday for college aged kids, where gifts don't need to be purchased, and older family members do the preparing of meals. This leaves college aged kids with more expendable cash, and the luxury of eating a big meal the day after drinking without having to prepare it.

Last Call To Newton Episode 12: Hey Did You Know That There Are Other Sports At BC That Aren’t Football? (bcinterruption.com; Bailin and Toppin)

Everyone saw the Boston College Eagles smackdown the Connecticut Huskies Saturday afternoon. But do you know there are other sports at BC?

I KNOW! We were surprised to find out too.

And guess what? All of those teams that we haven’t been talking about are really really good!

BC football took care of business against UConn, but men’s basketball had a strong weekend at a pre-season tournament, and men’s hockey continued its run through Hockey East play.

Andover’s EJ Perry another fresh face at quarterback for Boston College (Bostonherald.com; Thompson)

Through the first 10 games of the Boston College season, freshman quarterback EJ Perry of Andover was never himself.

Perry made use of his redshirt arrangement to serve as the Eagles’ scout team quarterback. The task required Perry to provide the first defense with a serviceable impersonation of Wake Forest’s John Wolford, Kelly Bryant of Clemson, Notre Dame’s Brandon Wimbush and Lamar Jackson of Louisville.

Boston College vs. Syracuse: Weekly Kickoff (bcinterruption.com; Black)

It’s off to the house of horrors for Boston College as they look to solidfy their slotting in the ACC bowl pecking order. The Carrier Dome has been a nightmare for the Eagles, a place BC hasn’t won at since 2010 when Frank Spaziani defeated Doug Marrone in a 16-7 snoozefest. Looking over the entire scope of the rivalry, BC trails 30-19, and has lost three out of the last five.

The big news going into this game is the injury to Syracuse Orange quarterback Eric Dungey. Dungey almost singe handedly defeated the Eagles last year putting up 434 yards and three touchdowns. He is one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the ACC, as we saw when he led the Orange to a stunning upset at home against the Clemson Tigers. Syracuse clearly isn’t the same team without him, though they still have offensive weapons BC needs to be worried about. There is no word if Zack Mahoney or Rex Culpepper will get the start for Dino Babers.

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the busiest bar night of the year. For folks returning to their hometown for the holiday, it's an unofficial high school reunion with too much booze and an eventual hangover that'll be cured by turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing.
