Welcome to Humiliation Day!
Humiliation Day is not a day to humiliate someone. Rather, it should be viewed as a time to recognize the negativity of humiliating someone, or a group of people.
Perhaps too many people associate humbleness with humility. So, they think today is a day to be humble. Being humble is good virtue. Humiliation is a negative impression placed upon someone...which is not so good.
Let's all use this special day, to remind us to avoid humiliating anyone for any reason.

Syracuse Football: Doug Marrone and Tom Coughlin have flipped the script in Jacksonville (itlh.com; Weisleder)
From a three-win 2016 season to a 10-6 campaign in 2017, Syracuse Football alumni Doug Marrone and Tom Coughlin have flipped the script in Jacksonville.
After finishing the 2016 NFL season with just three wins, Jacksonville finds themselves atop the AFC South with 10 wins one year later. Last season, after the Jaguars blew a lead to the Houston Texans, and ended up losing 21-20 in week 15, head coach Gus Bradley was fired.
It seemed as if Jacksonville’s front office was planning for what happened next for a while. After finishing the 2016 NFL season as Jacksonville’s interim HC, and leading the Jaguars to a 1-1 record, Doug Marrone accepted an offer to become the team’s full-time bench boss.

Chandler Jones already beloved by coaches, teammates in Arizona (nbcsports.com; Perry)
Looking at the wide range of contracts the Patriots will have to address in the near future, it made sense when they opted to trade Chandler Jones this offseason before losing him to free agency after this season and receiving only a compensatory pick in return.
Judging by the way the Cardinals spoke about their new edge rusher, acquired in a trade that sent guard Jonathan Cooper and a second-round pick to New England, the Patriots loss has been their gain.
"A true professional," Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said of Jones on Wednesday. "Comes to work every day. He’s a coach-pleaser. He’s extremely talented, obviously, but I’ve been very impressed with the way he’s fit in with our group and our culture right away."
Arians added: "He sets an edge presence for us. Playing outside linebacker, defensive end, he’s obviously very versatile where you can put him. But, he’s adapted well to playing outside linebacker for us and also in our nickel and dime packages being an edge rusher. It’s something that we were looking for. He has the length and the skillset to rush the passer."

Parsing through the ACC's bowl results (roanoke.com; Bitter)
There was plenty of chest-thumping at last summer's ACC media days, and rightfully so.
The league was coming off a football season in which Clemson won the national title, Louisville's Lamar Jackson won the Heisman Trophy with Clemson's Deshaun Watson finishing runner-up and the league went 9-3 in the postseason, far and away best among the Power 5 conferences.
There'll be decidedly less crowing this summer.

As top-heavy as it might be, the SEC will still have two teams play for the national championship next Monday, with Alabama playing Georgia. Oddly, the College Football Playoff came about as a result of two SEC teams playing each other for the national title, which, in turn, led to a four-team tournament that gives us two SEC teams playing for the national title.

Up to 75 vehicles in massive crash on NY State Thruway in WNY (updated) (PS; Axelson)
Update 4:04 p.m.: Mark Poloncarz further updates that his reports suggest that only 22 vehicles are directly involved in the accident, and that reports of more than 70 vehicles involved are referring to backed up cars that did not directly collide with any others.

Update 3:09 p.m.: According to Spectrum News Buffalo, up to 75 vehicles are now estimated to be involved in the crash, and the impacted area is more than 1 mile long.
The eastbound Thruway is not an option for the drive home. A crash involving an estimated 75 cars has closed the road between exits 50 and 49. Blizzard warning issued for Erie County
