Welcome to Backwards Day!
Backward Day. The day where the world gets turned upside down and inside becomes out and madness becomes sanity and day becomes night, at least in concept. There’s just too much seriousness in the air, and sometimes you really just have to bend all the rules and let it all hang out.
History of Backward Day
Backward Day has a really long history, far older than the name of the holiday itself. In almost every culture there came a time of year when all the societal rules got turned on their head. Rome had Saturnalia, a day when all social norms were turned on their head. Gambling was no longer forbidden, and the masters took the day serving their slaves at the high table. During no other time was free speech actually permitted, especially amongst the slaves, but during Saturnalia, all manner of insult was allowed.

How many players can Syracuse football take on National Signing Day 2018? (PS; Bailey)
In nine days, Syracuse football will ink its second batch of 2018 recruits on National Signing Day.
The Orange added 15 prospects during the early signing period in December and, three weeks ago, head coach Dino Babers said the program planned to take seven more.
Much has happened, or at least become public, since then.
Syracuse landed two former four-stars as transfers -- wide receiver Trishton Jackson (Michigan State) and running back Abdul Adams (Oklahoma). Linebacker Troy Henderson announced his decision to transferfrom Syracuse. Class of 2018 linebacker Ja'Qurius Smith, who did not have the opportunity to sign early, decommitted.

The Columbia, Mississippi native has received offers from the likes of in-state powers Ole Miss, Mississippi State, in addition to Tennessee and others. Howard checks in at 5-foot 11 inches and weighs 202-pounds. According to his twitter, Howard rushed for 38 touchdowns and 2,520 yards this past season.
Syracuse fans should expect to see a physical runner, who seeks out contact and can lower the boom.

Syracuse suspends men's club hockey team after fight with NYU fans (video) (PS; Kramer)
Syracuse University has suspended its men's club hockey team after some of its players fought with fans following a game at NYU on Saturday night.
After an inquiry was made about the incident, a school spokesperson released the following statement:
"These actions are deeply troubling. Violence of any kind is contrary to Syracuse University values and will not be tolerated. We have suspended all Men's Hockey Club team activities, including all games and practices. We will be conducting a thorough investigation to determine further disciplinary action.''
According to the team's schedule, there are six games left in the regular season. Syracuse coach Nick Pierandri did not return a phone call seeking comment about the incident.
Since men's hockey is a club sport at Syracuse, it falls under the jurisdiction of the recreation services department instead of the athletic department.
A short video clip posted on Barstoolsports.com shows players reported to be from Syracuse fighting with fans at the contest, which was played at the Chelsea Piers sports complex in Manhattan.
Officials from SU and NYU declined to confirm the veracity of the clip or identify anyone in it. An NYU spokesperson did say, however, that team involved was not from that school.
