Welcome to National Chocolate Milkshake Day!

National Chocolate Milkshake day is dedicated to the chocolate version of the frothy and thick drink, that is usually made with milk, ice cream, and flavored syrup. Milkshakes were first mentioned in print in Britain in 1885, and may have contained whiskey at the time. By the turn of the 20th century, they were seen as being more wholesome, and the alcohol was replaced with syrups such as chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Another version of the milk shake, the malted milkshake, was invented in 1887. This shake added malted milk, which consists of a mixture of evaporated milk, wheat flour, and malted barley. Other names for a milkshake include frappé, frosted, thick shake, and cabinet, which is the term used in Rhode Island. Milkshakes have traditionally been sold in many places: malt or soda shops, ice cream shops, diners, fast food restaurants, and other similar type of establishments. Many times milkshakes are made with a blender using a stainless steel cup. As not all of the milkshake always fits in a glass, the stainless steel cup with the extra mixture is brought to the table with a spoon.

Syracuse QB Tommy DeVito spent 2 years building trust; No. 1 Clemson will test that bond (PS; Bailey)

Tommy DeVito sprinted to the sideline, dove forward and rolled out of bounds.

After throwing an interception in the second quarter of Syracuse football’s 63-20 loss at Maryland, DeVito popped up and stormed to over to slot receiver Nykeim Johnson. The two talked animatedly before the walking to the sideline where the conversation continued with head coach Dino Babers.

Johnson stepped out of bounds on the broken play when DeVito was expecting him to turn back to the ball. Two plays later, the Terrapins made use of a short field by scoring a touchdown to extend their lead to 28-7.

“He shows one type of emotion, and his emotion is to make sure we’re doing what we’re supposed to,” Johnson said of DeVito. “He’s a calm, collected guy, and that’s how he’s supposed to be as a quarterback.”

DeVito has spent the last two years building relationships in anticipation of these tense conversations during crucial moments. He established bonds with his receivers -- like Johnson, one of his closest friends -- through extra throwing sessions and off-field hangouts. He meshed with running backs Moe Neal and Abdul Adams during offseason agility work. He joined the offensive line’s extremely group chat, though DeVito joked they talk so frequently that he sometimes has to put it on mute.

Yes, Syracuse football-Clemson is still a big game. We ranked the 12 biggest in Carrier Dome history (PS; Mink)

You may have heard there’s a football game being played here this weekend.

Syracuse (1-1) hosts No. 1 Clemson (2-0, 1-0 ACC) at 7:30 Saturday night in a nationally televised contest on ABC.

This game had been circled on the calendar since the 2019 schedule was released last January. More and more pomp has engulfed it since then, as the university opted to shift Homecoming festivities around the game and retire the number of former All-American defensive lineman Tim Green at halftime.

The school also announced earlier in the week it expects its first home sellout since 1998.

This is the fourth time Syracuse will host a team that is the defending national champion and ranked No. 1 in the national polls.

Syracuse is 0-3 in those games, losing to Miami (Fla.) in 1992 and 2002 and to Florida State in 2014. None of those teams would go on to repeat as national champions.

In an attempt to contextualize the magnitude, buzz and feeling of Saturday’s game, we ranked the 12 biggest games in Carrier Dome history. The building opened in 1980.

Agree or disagree, share your thoughts in the comment section below or email Nate Mink at nmink@syracuse.com.

12. Miami (Ohio) 1980

The first game played in the Carrier Dome lured in the largest crowd to watch a game in the Dome.

A record 50,564 fans packed the building for SU’s 36-24 victory against Miami (Ohio). Joe Morris racked up more than 300 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns in the victory.

Syracuse went on to finish 5-6 in what would be Frank Maloney’s final season before Dick MacPherson took over.

11. Nebraska in 1984

This tops the list of greatest wins in Carrier Dome history.

Nobody saw the Orangemen, unranked and coming off a 19-0 loss at Rutgers, as much resistance to a Cornhuskers team that had won 42-3 at No. 8 UCLA in the Rose Bowl the week before.

Clemson Football: Syracuse Expert predicts an upset over Tigers (rubbingtherock.com; Spencer)

The Clemson Tigers will take on the Syracuse Orange Saturday. Here’s a look at what Inside the Loudhouse Expert Paul Esden Jr. thinks about the match up.

To get a match up from the opponent’s perspective on Clemson vs. Syracuse, we reached out to our friends over at Inside the Loudhouse for an in-depth look at the Orange heading into the vaunted ACC match up.

Here’s what Paul Esden Jr., site expert for Inside the Loudhouse, had to say about the game.

1. A tough loss for Syracuse this past weekend. Do you think the Orange were overlooking Maryland? Also, what’s the vibe in Syracuse after the loss?

I don’t want to make any excuses, it was probably a little overlooking Maryland, but you have to give the Terps a ton of credit. They were clearly ready to play this game and Syracuse wasn’t, plain and simple.

This was pathetic, embarrassing, and just downright unacceptable. Dino Babers gave his players a tongue lashing over the weekend and they reviewed every play from the Maryland game and fixed it. The vibe is certainly shocked after this one, but the team is using this as Dino called it ‘a slice of humble pie’, the Orange should be refocused and as ready as they can be for this Clemson game.

2. What were the major issues for Syracuse against the Terps? Are these things that can be fixed or do you think they may be consistent problems for the majority of the season?

Defense, defense, and some more defense. After giving up -4 yards rushing vs the Liberty Flames, Syracuse gave up over 350 yards and six touchdowns on nearly eight yards a clip.

The Orange were annihilated in their run defense and they had no clue how to adapt to the wildfire that ensued. I don’t think the Syracuse defense was as good as Week 1, but certainly, it isn’t as bad as Week 2, it’s truly somewhere in the middle.

This Syracuse defense is the strength of the team this year: elite secondary and a great pair of pass rushers in Kendall Coleman and Alton Robinson. Another concern was the youngster at QB Tommy DeVito making dumb throws. He just tried to force things when they weren’t there which resulted in turnovers. We’ll see if Tommy becomes a man in Week 3 or will he continue to make childish mistakes.

Game day themes, giveaways and energy in the Ozone will contribute to the passion for the Orange in the Dome.

The 2019 football game day themes include:

  • Clemson – Color Me Orange
    • All students are encouraged to wear WHITE to the game! There will be an orange color powder toss when the football team runs out of the tunnel.
  • Pittsburgh – Greek Night
    • All students wear sunglasses, khakis and a button-up to the game and receive a FREE 'Cuse sunglasses strap while supplies last
  • Boston College – JersDay

The renaming of the Ozone is the result of a collaborative effort involving Otto's Army, the Residence Hall Association, Student Association, and Greek Life, and will serve as a vehicle to bring all groups from campus together on game day. The section has been called 'Otto's Army' in prior years. The student fan group that bears the same name will continue to lead the cheers at all Syracuse University athletic events.

Ozone members are invited to tag @cuseozone for a chance to be featured on the official Instagram page, which will showcase the student game day experience throughout the season.

Sciria: Despite ugly loss, Syracuse football can still give Clemson a challenging game Saturday (auburnpub.com; Sciria)

Oh what could have been, the sight of ESPN's College Gameday outside the Carrier Dome in Syracuse on Saturday morning before the Clemson game.

Hundreds of Syracuse University students and fans holding up witty signs aiming to get on television. What notable SU alum would be onstage to tout the Orange?

The vision of Lee Corso putting on Otto's orange head while picking Syracuse to upset the top-ranked Tigers would have been one that Orange fans would have cherished.

But as we know, that's not going to happen since Syracuse lost to Maryland in a blowout last weekend, dropping them out of the Top 25 with a thud. Instead, College Gameday will be going to Ames, Iowa for that "hot" Iowa-Iowa State match-up. Indulge me some sarcasm, I think even a 1-1 Syracuse team was worthy of getting some national attention.

If the Orange want to get back into the Top 25, all they have to do is something they did two years ago and almost did last year: Beat Clemson. Easier said than done obviously.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum Previews Clemson-Syracuse Game (thespun.com; Rosvoglou)

Outside of Alabama, the only other program that has given Clemson issues over the past two years is Syracuse. However, ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum doesn’t believe that trend will continue.

Two years ago, the Orange defeated the Tigers in one of the biggest upsets in recent memory.

Syracuse nearly upset Clemson again in 2018 because Trevor Lawrence went down with an injury. Backup quarterback Chase Brice had an inspiring performance to lead his team to victory.

Clemson is the No. 1 team in the country through the first two weeks of the season. As for Syracuse, the program is coming off a blowout loss to Maryland.

Finebaum has been critical of the Tigers in recent months, but he does think they’ll easily defeat the Orange on Saturday.

Here is what Finebaum had to say about the matchup, via 247Sports:

“The Orange have no chance at all,” said ESPN analyst and known Clemson antagonist Paul Finebaum. “I thought this was going to be a premiere game, but you guys got run over. Boat raced by Maryland last week. You don’t have a chance against Clemson. I know what happened two years ago on a Friday night. I know what happened last year when Trevor got hurt. It’s not happening this year. It’s not happening at all. Dino Babers is a great coach.”

Kickoff for this game is at 7:30 p.m. ET from the Carrier Dome.

Clemson (2-0) vs. Syracuse (1-1) Game Preview

Why Clemson Will Win

How tired is this team of hearing about its problems with Syracuse over the last two seasons?

Yeah, the Tigers lost to the Orange two years ago and needed to pull a fourth down play out of their hat to win last season – the full focus will be there on the national stage.

Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne are the stars of the show, but get ready for the other side of the ball to shine.

For all the excitement about Syracuse being the only other ranked team behind Clemson up until last week, there was a major question mark about the offense. QB Tommy DeVito was mediocre in the win over Liberty, and the running game was nowhere to be found – partially because the game got out of hand right away – against Maryland.

The Orange have to deal with a Tiger defensive front that appears to have reloaded instantly, shutting down Texas A&M to a dead stop last week and, overall, allowing just three points until a desperation fourth down play in the final moments.

College Football Schedule, Lines, TV: Week 3

Why Syracuse Will Win

How did Syracuse do so well against Clemson over the last two seasons? The amazing pass rush beat up Kelly Bryant two years ago and knocked out Trevor Lawrence last season. Can the killer Orange defensive ends step it back up again after a down week?

There wasn’t anything happening in the backfield against the quick-hitting Maryland offense, but when the terrific ends are working, they can take over the game.

The Clemson offensive line is terrific, but it’ll give up plays behind the line. Great at taking the ball away so far, the Orange D needs to come up with a few big plays – Lawrence has thrown three picks so far – and the O has to convert on every chance.

On the other side, the Orange offense might be having a few issues, but the line is doing a decent job of keeping everyone out of the backfield. It was mostly in comeback mode in the blowout, but DeVito threw for 330 yards and three scores last week. Now he needs to have the game of his life.

– “Go to the bank!” Today’s top pick of the day just released

What’s Going To Happen

With the jam-packed house and the excitement of getting the No. 1 team in its house, this should be the game for Syracuse to rise up and start to produce …

Or it’ll get destroyed by the team that’s ready to put away this whole Syracuse problem.

Expect the latter.

No drama this year as Tigers get set for Syracuse (theclemsoninsider.com; Vandervort)

for gbo

The mood at Clemson is a little bit different this year as the top-ranked Tigers prepare for Syracuse on Saturday than it was last year at this time.

At last year’s final media session before the game, a throng of writers and television reporters, both locally and nationally, were on hand as Swinney addressed the departure of quarterback Kelly Bryant from the team. Bryant had left the team two days before, a day after Swinney told him Trevor Lawrence was going to be the starter for the Syracuse game.

Bryant commented in The Greenville News earlier that day that he had not been given a fair shake and it was like “a slap in the face” to him.

A year later, Swinney could only laugh when it was pointed out to him that only seven members of the media were in attendance on Wednesday.

“We love drama, don’t we,” Swinney said while laughing. “We love drama. Drama sells. It is just an old boring working man’s Wednesday’s today. Nothing exciting, except a fun two-minute drill.”

Swinney later when on to say the moral of his football team was good last year leading up to the Syracuse game, but they were just dealing with drama.

“Nobody likes that … football is a game of routine and structure,” he said. “Nobody likes to have to deal with stuff like that. Our team handled it well. We had a good week of practice.

“Our quarterback just got hurt. That kind of derailed us a little bit. I said the other day if we can just get our quarterback to play four quarters we’re ahead of the game, and not turning over three times, then we will have a much better chance to be successful in the game as opposed to have to overcome a bunch of stuff.”

Stephen Bailey and Julian Whigham break down the Orange's upcoming matchup with top-ranked Clemson. SU has played the Tigers close each of the last two years, including an all-time upset in 2017. We also check in with David Hale of ESPN.com, answer fan questions and share our predictions.

Onondaga Historical Association Celebrates Syracuse University’s 1959 Football Season (localsyr.com)

At halftime of the SU versus Clemson game, the surviving members of the 1959 Syracuse University football team will be honored by the team members coming out onto the field.

Robert Searing of the Onondaga Historical Association says that the honor is a special moment for the players and the Syracuse community as well.

“They’re bringing the gentlemen out onto the field. Hopefully we’ll have a sellout crowd. I’ll be in attendance as a proud season ticket holder,” he added.

Sixty years ago, Syracuse University won their first and only National Championship. The 1959 Syracuse University Football team, led by Coach Ben Schwartzwalder went 11-0, beating Texas in the Cotton Bowl en route to a unanimous selection as National Champion. Coming on the heels of several impressive seasons led by the great Jim Brown, the 59 team was among the most talented ever assembled. This included sophomore tailback Ernie Davis, who became the first African American to win the Heisman Trophy in 1961.

The ’59 championship team is still considered one of the best defenses in the history of college football. In addition to their on-field success, the 59 team was a model of racial integration and cooperation in an era where segregation was still legal in the American South and the civil rights movement was progressing rapidly.

No. 1 Clemson's trip to Syracuse headlines ACC weekend; Pitt underdog at PSU (tribdem.com; AP; McCreary)

Here are things to watch in the Atlantic Coast Conference in Week 3:

GAME OF THE WEEK

No. 1 Clemson at Syracuse. This one might've had a bit more juice a week ago, but the Tigers' trip to the Carrier Dome still stacks up as the best game of a weekend in which four ACC teams face off against FCS schools. Syracuse (1-1) remains the last ACC team to beat Clemson (2-0), knocking off the Tigers two years ago in their last visit north after an injury to QB Kelly Bryant . The rematch might have been the nation's biggest game, had the Orange not been blown out by Maryland last week.

BEST MATCHUP

North Carolina State's defense vs. West Virginia's offense. New N.C. State co-defensive coordinator Tony Gibson served two lengthy stints on the Mountaineers' staff and interviewed for the head coaching job that ultimately went to Neal Brown after Dana Holgorsen left for Houston. Now he's in charge of a Wolfpack defense that has yet to allow a touchdown and is giving up 24.5 yards rushing per game. That could mean trouble for a West Virginia ground game that ranks 129th nationally (32 ypg) and was at minus-7 yards rushing in the second half of a blowout loss at Missouri.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Only three teams in the Bowl Subdivision have two victories over Power 5 schools and two of them are in the ACC. Clemson opened with wins over Georgia Tech and Texas A&M, and North Carolina owns victories over South Carolina and Miami. The third member of that club is Hawaii, which is 2-0 against the Pac-12 after beating Arizona and Oregon State.

LONG SHOT

Maybe Pittsburgh can put a scare into an instate rival in their last scheduled meeting. The Panthers are 17-point underdogs at No. 13 Penn State in the finale of their four-game series. Pitt has once again gone into lockdown mode, with coach Pat Narduzzi declining to make any players available to the media this week. The Panthers will have to find a way to continue Penn State's struggles in the ground game after the Nittany Lions managed just 78 yards rushing against Buffalo.

IMPACT PLAYER

Bryce Perkins could be in for a big game. The Virginia quarterback might be the conference's most exciting player — at least among those who don't play for Clemson — and he's going up against a Florida State defense that ranks last in the league overall (520 ypg) and in points allowed (40 ppg). Perkins, who set a school record with 3,603 total yards a year ago, is slightly off that pace with 485 through two games for the 25th-ranked Cavaliers.

ACC Football Week 3: Staff Predictions (tarheelblog.com; Bondurant)

So let’s just get this out of the way early: four members of the Tar Heel Blog staff didn’t pick Carolina to beat Miami. I’m sure they had their reasons, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to shame them a little bit for that decision.

Akil, Brandon, Jacob, and Matt? Come on, guys. COME ON. Where is the faith???

Evan is still out in front of everyone by one game with 20 correct predictions and just two missteps. Chad, Douglas, Jake, Quintin, and yours truly are hot on his heels, though, with 19 correct predictions each.

Here are the staff’s predictions (including our two newcomers!) for Week 3 which features a whole lot of chalk:

Screen_Shot_2019_09_11_at_12.40.15_AM.png

Everyone except Matt (who is just playing the odds at this point) and Jake (who refused to commit) decided to put their faith in Mack Brown and co. for their Friday night game against Wake Forest. Sam Howell is the truth and everyone might as well jump on board.

There is very little disagreement this week, but that means there is also very little room for anyone to get out to any kind of comfortable lead. Will Evan picking West Virginia to beat NC State help him add to his lead, or will it be the deciding factor in everyone else being able to catch up? Stay tuned!

Agree with our predictions? Think they are dumb? Leave your own in the comments below!

Once again, ACC is top-ranked Clemson ... and everyone else (espn; AP)

Syracuse coach Dino Babers has to look outside the Atlantic Coast Conference to find a comparison for the Clemson team that ran the table last year and blew out Alabama in the national championship game.

"I look at that team and I think about the Miami Dolphins going undefeated in the National Football League " in 1972, Babers said this week as the Orange prepared to face the top-ranked Tigers on Saturday night.

"We've had college football teams going undefeated before. To me that's a heck of an accomplishment. Now we're on their second run with an opportunity to do it again," Babers said.
"We're probably seeing one of the best teams of an era."
There doesn't appear to be anyone in the Atlantic Coast Conference that can challenge No. 1 Clemson (2-0, 1-0 ACC).

Syracuse was the top contender entering the year, coming off a 10-win season that earned it a No. 22 ranking in The Associated Press preseason Top 25. It was also the last ACC team to beat the Tigers -- in 2017, in the Carrier Dome.

But after losing 63-20 to Maryland, the Orange (1-1, 0-0) don't look ready to take on the defending national champions this Saturday.

Join the club.

"We all know Clemson is an elite team. That's not the great mystery," Boston College coach Steve Addazio said. "But where everybody is, who knows? We're going into Week 3. There's a lot of football left to be played and a lot of team cultures yet to be developed."

Wake-UNC rivalry renewed, minus the ACC (nsjonline.com; Frielander)

ACC members North Carolina and Wake Forest are separated by about 75 miles as the crow flies. But as far as football is concerned, they might as well be light-years apart because of the conference’s divisional alignment.

So when the Tar Heels and Deacons play one another for the 107th time dating back to 1888 Friday night in Winston-Salem, in a game that won’t count in the ACC standings, they’ll do so more as strangers than rivals.

“Our football team is very aware of the history of this game, the tradition,” Wake coach Dave Clawson said at his regular weekly press conference on Tuesday. “It’s the oldest rivalry in North Carolina. It is a big, big deal and we do not minimize it. What’s weird about it is just our lack of familiarity with them.”

The relationship between UNC and Wake predates their entry into the ACC as charter members in 1953. They met on the football field every fall between 1919 and 2004, when the conference expanded, split into divisions and turned the Tar Heels and Deacons into twin siblings separated at birth.

Because the league only plays two cross-division games per year with one coming against a permanent partner — NC State in UNC’s case, Duke for Wake — the teams have met only four times over the past 14 years and aren’t scheduled to play again until 2022.
It’s such an unnatural arrangement that both sides agreed to a home-and-home series in which they will, at least technically, be nonconference opponents. The return game in Chapel Hill is scheduled for 2021.

Players on both sides are looking forward to renewing the in-state rivalry as much as the fans. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. Friday with television coverage on ESPN.

“We play NC State and Duke every year and then the other team you hear about it Wake,” UNC offensive tackle Charlie Heck said at the ACC’s Football Kickoff media event this summer. “So you would think we’d play them every year.”

BR's Week 3, 2019 Predictions (RX; HM)

BR's Week 3, 2019 Predictions

College Football Picks: Week 3 Predictions for Every Game

No. 25 Virginia vs. Florida State (7:30 p.m. ET, Virginia -7)
This is low-key the day's most important game. If Virginia wins, the ACC will keep two teams in the AP Top 25, and Florida State head coach Willie Taggart catapults to the top of any and all hot seat rankings—if he isn't already there. If the Seminoles win, then I suppose North Carolina becomes the new favorite to win the most bizarre Power Five division?
Virginia should be victorious, though. Florida State's defense is even more of a catastrophe than it was last year, and the Cavaliers have one of the ACC's best defenses. James Blackman and Cam Akers have better long-term prospects than Bryce Perkins and the rest of Virginia's offense, but Wahoowa has the upper hand in this matchup.
Prediction: Virginia 35, Florida State 27

No. 13 Penn State vs. Pittsburgh (noon ET, Penn State -17)
Penn State has averaged 62 points in its first two games, but let's not get too excited about blowouts of Idaho and Buffalo. This Pittsburgh defense will give us a much better indication of whether the Nittany Lions offense is for real. But even if the Panthers hold Penn State to half its scoring average, their offense will have a hard time finding the end zone against this elite defense.
Prediction: Penn State 34, Pittsburgh 12

No. 7 Notre Dame vs. New Mexico (2:30 p.m. ET, Notre Dame -35)
New Mexico allowed Sam Houston State to throw for 443 yards and two touchdowns in its season opener, and Notre Dame's Ian Book is significantly better than any quarterback on that FCS roster. He and the Fighting Irish will have a field day against a Lobos program going nowhere fast. And don't be surprised if Notre Dame running back Tony Jones Jr. sneaks onto the fringe of the still-way-too-early Heisman Trophy conversation following a huge day.
Prediction: Notre Dame 54, New Mexico 17

No. 1 Clemson at Syracuse (7:30 p.m. ET, Clemson -27.5)
Unless Syracuse was playing the all-time most convincing game of possum by losing 63-20 to Maryland on Saturday, this won't be the noteworthy showdown we were expecting in the preseason—even though Trevor Lawrence (three interceptions) hasn't had anything close to Heisman-level efficiency.
The Terrapins gutted the Orange in the running game, averaging 7.9 yards per carry and scoring six of their nine touchdowns on the ground. Travis Etienne will bounce back from his Week 2 dud (16 carries for 53 yards) with something closer to the herculean performance he had against Syracuse last year (27 carries, 203 yards, three touchdowns). A Syracuse offense that has yet to score more than 24 points won't be able to keep pace.
Prediction: Clemson 42, Syracuse 17

CFB150 - Iconic Moments (ACC-style)

In recognition of the 150th anniversary of college football, CBS Sports compiled a list of the "25 most iconic moments". The ACC is well represented - both for the good as well as the bad...

These first three involve pre-ACC Miami. Yes, I realize that Miami wasn't in the ACC at the time (but then the ACC has pretty much swallowed up the old Big East in terms of football, so someone has to count it... same for pre-ACC Boston College!)

Miami's pass interference call vs. Ohio State

Did Miami defender Glenn Sharpe get to Ohio State wideout Chris Gamble a hair too early? The merits of the infamous defensive pass interference call in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl are debated to this day. Many believe the overtime call was correct, giving the Buckeyes another shot to score a touchdown, which they did in an eventual 31-24 double-overtime victory in the national championship. Others point to how late the flag was thrown. In any case, it remains one of the most controversial calls in the sport's history given the stakes of the game. And what a game! The Hurricanes were stacked with future NFL players and on a 34-game winning streak. This was also the game in which star running back Willis McGahee suffered a brutal knee injury when he was tackled by Ohio State safety Will Allen.

ESPN Syracuse revamps radio lineup; Daniel Baldwin moves on (newyorkstate.com; Herbert)

ESPN Syracuse radio station WTLA (97.7 FM, 1200 AM) has revamped its lineup as the fall sports season gets underway.

The Galaxy-owned radio station launched two new shows in late August: “The Seth Everett Show” featuring Seth Everett and Paulie Scibilia from 10-11 a.m., and “Centers of Attention” with former Syracuse basketball stars Etan Thomas and Danny Schayes from 11 a.m. to noon. Both shows air weekdays in the timeslot previously filled by actor Daniel Baldwin.

Everett, a Syracuse University alumnus who previously worked at ESPN New York, WFAN and Fox Sports, joined ESPN Syracuse last year to host SU football and basketball postgame coverage. He’ll continue hosting postgame shows this season with former Orange quarterback Eric Dungey, who’s finishing up two classes this fall to complete his undergraduate degree.

Thomas, a 6-foot-10 center who played at Syracuse from 1996 to 2000 and in the NBA until 2011, is an author and social activist. Schayes, the son of Hall of Famer Dolph Schayes, played at SU from 1977 to 1981 and in the NBA until 1999.

The two shows add more local voices to ESPN Radio in Central New York, along with “Orange Nation” (with Steve Infanti and Seth Goldberg) from 12-2 p.m.; “In the Booth” (with Matt Park and Brian Higgins) from 2-3 p.m.; and “On the Block” with Brent Axe from 4-6 p.m.

Galaxy President and CEO Ed Levine tells syracuse.com | The Post-Standard that another new show will be announced soon for the 3-4 p.m. slot.
“We will be doing something that to the best of my knowledge has never been done," Levine said.

Until the new shows launched this fall, ESPN Syracuse had been airing a simulcast of “The Dan Le Batard Show” in place of “The Daniel Baldwin Show," which ended in April after two years. Baldwin, an actor with his brothers Stephen, Billy and Alec Baldwin, began hosting a radio show on ESPN Syracuse after moving to Central New York to be closer to his mother, Camillus breast cancer research fund raiser Carol M. Baldwin.
Levine did not say why Baldwin’s show ended, only saying “We revamped the ESPN lineup for the fall.”

Baldwin’s reps did not respond to a request for comment, but he’s made it clear he’s moved on.
“Won best show in all radio excluding nyc in its first year. What else was there left to do?” he wrote on Twitter last month when a fan asked what happened to his show.

if we go 5 wide then we need to also be willing to know we have to complete 3 passes sometimes to get a first down. 3 yds is 3 yds. we didnt do it vs Liberty, we did it somewhat batter vs maryland.
